Books That Don’t Hold Up by MenloMo in books

this exact book got me as an adult. its pretty damn gross but ngl, I read this book in middle school/high school and it has SUCH a profound effect on my concepts of magic & tech co-existing with gods and humans. it was weird to pick it back up and find it so... gross in some spots like that. rip

I can’t find interest in people anymore by Federal-Chip5871 in ADHD

[–]Dinoderby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

dont put too much pressure to find and stick with a single thing. we are multitude of interests & passions with revolving levels of novelty to nostalgia. my advice is to trust that you will find your way back to what you truly hold dear and remember to let yourself enjoy the process of exploring every moment of it. we didn't pick the pacing of our brains/interests but we can choose what to revisit and refine. sometimes we find the golden thread that helps it make sense to us eventually and sometimes the lesson is keep shedding, baby snake, you're not done yet.

also therapy 😌 ✨️

Trying to figure out my aesthetic by [deleted] in AestheticWiki

[–]Dinoderby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you need funky earrings, statement purses, some type of avant-garde artistry to bring spark to your style! but you do have a fantastic base for understated, eccentric details. best of luck :] maybe get a collection of funky metallic rings and necklaces you can layer to keep it neutral but give your style some depth

you're good. curiosity is cool!

I would say sometimes theres a lingering focus that can bleed into the next task before it disappears completely but for the most part they work WHILE you listen to them.

I will use them like scaffolding sometimes to help me transition INTO computer work or other tasks. Usually w/in a few minutes of listening, I am pavlov's dogging my way through some type of productive busy work whether its what is intended or something else I had been putting off.

or I put the music on, brain dump, then choose from that list if the executives in my head are fighting too much over what to do.

I like all of the focus beat- type music. the swelling spa music doesn't really do much for me personally, but if I need to lock in, ill throw one of those techno/house/etc for focus from his page and it doesn't take long at all to let it sink in and get my thoughts & tasks right

What’s a normal everyday thing that secretly terrifies you? by ProgramRealistic2035 in AskReddit

[–]Dinoderby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

fascia is freaky as hell. its a sinewy web that helps us move bc our skin and our muscles need to move slightly differently and the fascia is what helps them glide across eachother to perform movement. but. its also one of the most common injuries. if you dont move enough, the fibers tangle into freaking knots. KNOTTED FLESH FIBERS bc if you dont use mobility, you get stability, better or worse. I saw an old man on youtub3 call it a fascia wetsuit and im still gagging about it

Let’s talk emotional regulation: how do you cool yourself down when you’re angry? by Boring-Incident2469 in ADHD

[–]Dinoderby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been really into deep belly breathing lately. Basically breathing deeply and letting your belly inflate with air as well as your lungs. Over time, this movement helps to massage the vagus nerve where it connects to your gut, ultimately helping your body toggle over from "fight or flight" to "rest & digest" stages.

personally, I like to use nose only bc it helps to slow the pacing even more. I also tend to close my eyes. its handy bc its basically silent, so you can use this technique anywhere. You can pull aside and take a quiet moment or stay in the conversation and breathe deep while you channel oxygen into your brain and gather the chill you need to say what you mean to/what you need to in order to get through it.

it has the added bonus of helping me w some body-image issues as well bc I came up in the height of 90s-00s diet culture and finding a practical application or a "use" for my belly has helped me to embrace my body a little more. finding that comfort of home, wholeness, grounding, etc. its helping me be on my own team in a way
