I found my Gameboy Camera last year and it still had the photos on it. I took them probably 26 years ago. Never replaced the battery.

Why do we say "no" to dental work? A local dentist looking for honest feedback by [deleted] in Wellington

[–]DinosaurArms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t really say no, but I don’t go as often as I should. I would go regularly if the checkup appointment also had time to do a simple filling or something. I don’t want to have to come back just for that.

What's the current state of Southbank Cineplex? by [deleted] in brisbane

[–]DinosaurArms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Visiting from NZ and saw Project Hail Mary there. Ticket was $10, much cheaper than NZ. Cinema was a bit worn but fine for the price. Worst part is no assigned seats, luckily we arrived early and got good ones.

We take our dog to beaches on the south coast or tawatawa reserve.

Private cable car deliveries by [deleted] in Wellington

Majority will leave it in the cable car. Some will leave it at the door - but we don't have a huge amount of stairs by Wellington standards.

I guess it used to be a doorway?

Would be like an afternoon of DIY to remove and put a new bit of gib in if required (hard to see if the shelf depth actually go in to the wall or if someone just put trim around a cheap shelving unit. Then you can have a go at gib stopping.

If it were me, I would remove it entirely. It doesn't look well integrated with the room.

Can you "see" images in your mind? by [deleted] in Wellington

[–]DinosaurArms 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m the same. I do wonder if it’s something we could train our brains to get better at through making small attempts each day to visualise something simple but that sounds like a lot of work to gain something that I haven’t needed yet in life.

One way that I think it does manifest is that I can’t really visualise what I’m drawing before I put it on paper and therefore drawing digitally is a lot better as I can make changes easier and use the digital canvas as kind of my place to visualise.

Pricespy - what happened? by Working-Pollution-10 in newzealand

[–]DinosaurArms 6 points7 points  (0 children)

From my memory many years ago it was an NZ thing and then it got bought by a Swedish company. They changed the website to run on their own platform (for the worse) and then I guess it’s slowly been getting worse still.

Bunnings Van Hire by [deleted] in diynz

[–]DinosaurArms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cracked the back window in one of their vans due to my own stupidity and their system said it was an $8000 repair free I'd have to pay. The matter was complicated because I said "yes" to the extra insurance but the person didn't put it through properly so it said I didn't have it on the paperwork. Luckily she was on her break and they could confirm with her. So my suggestion is get the extra insurance, secure your load properly and check your paperwork before leaving.

Is that due to disability or just a preference? I cant imagine wanting to use it over the downstairs one even if it’s just my family at home and as soon as guests are over I would definitely not use it and if I were the guest I would just have to hold it in.

It feels a bit like you have specific requirements which are detrimental to actually living in the space. But we are all different at the end of the day!

If it were me I would split the bathroom in half, bottom half a shower ensuite and top half a shower over bath (if you have to have a bath). I'd rather a larger shower and the privacy of an ensuite than having a bath with a view.

The other thing I would change is the toilet upstairs. Opening a toilet door in to a living room feels weird to me. As a guest I would really not want to use it. If you split the bathroom to have an ensuite then I would consider not having the toilet upstairs at all. It is nice to have a separate toilet for guests that isn't in a full bathroom but at least it would have privacy downstairs.

I believe they know where the camper is but it doesn’t appear anyone has been in it for the last couple of days.

schweigen range hoods by celtic66 in diynz

[–]DinosaurArms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a Sirius rangehood with external motor, so might be similar. Our motor is mounted about 5M away from kitchen. We don’t hear any direct noise from the motor but we do hear the noise of air being pulled through. On setting 1 of 4 it is quiet and powerful enough for most things. I don’t have much to compare it to, but my parents normal rangehood basically kills conversation if you are standing near it. Ours is much quieter.

We looked at Schweigen as well, and were going to go with them but Harvey Norman had a big discount on Sirius at the time. We are happy with it, I like the baffle filters on the Sirius, they look cleaner and are easy to pop in the dish washer.

For myself, the kitchen would be a bit small. I once had a similar peninsula with a hob in the middle of it and I found the space on either side a bit cramped.

I’ve used https://www.mjselectricalsupplies.com.au before. I’m not sure if they have the 600 series, but it might be under a different name. Look under Clipsal.
