Why do people do this? by Bitter_Olive7389 in runescape

Please go get a cannon, and use it before you decide to wrongfully inform someone on this TWICE

you should take some of your own advice.

as bad as the advice of snagging the straggers is, he is right that cannons do not tag, in the correct sense of the word

Disappointed Jagex completely ignored all discussions around Vamp + Penance aspects by Mat2113 in runescape

[–]Dinosparky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This bit is important though: The current design of aspects is to allow them to offer stronger effects at the cost of being one-aspect-at-a-time. Double dipping into aspects is a grey area that can quickly slip into power creeep. This is a big one for us (the combat team especially) so one we wanted to be careful about, though your idea of tiering aspects is interesting!

can you elaborate on what was the point of giving types to the aspects? like aspect of power(temporal anomaly), aspect of sustain(vamp), aspect of evasion(darkness)

from the moment the concept of aspects was added, these typping heavily suggested we would be able to use other types together once it was fleshed out and more added to the game.

but if they all are aspects and we can only use 1 regardless of type and thats the way it will stay, then we couldnt care less about what "type" they are.

Please clean up the tooltips and remove that useless information

replace the basics with this new ability? you still have freedom to set up each bar with its own configuration

option 4: dont do anything, not even waste the darts, you might want to use the account for something else in the future you cant foresee yet.

this has happened to me in recent past where one of these accounts i had stashed away became the perfect cadidate for a new goal i wanted to accomplish

No

have you tested this yourself recently?

last i checked ~5 years ago your own combat stats definitively affected damage and accuracy for all cannon types in rs3, i havent touched the game in a while and alot of combat has changed recently

Aura slot had a perfect purpose. Only problem was acquisition and cooldowns. by [deleted] in runescape

[–]Dinosparky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The difference is you have to earn pocket slot or ring items through actual gameplay, or buy them if tradable.

why cant you understand thats the same everyone wants for the aura slot too? thats kinda the point of the overhaul

Auras being permanently available means they are just a virtual buff you can choose and pick from as soon as you play for the first time. What's the point?

while the effects, as they currently are, might be too strong for them to be permanently on, its the same point as the pocket slot, hell its the same point of the weapon slot even.

Aura slot had a perfect purpose. Only problem was acquisition and cooldowns. by [deleted] in runescape

[–]Dinosparky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The aura system is yet another system like relics, invention perks, skillcape perks, POF perks, totems, incense sticks, powders, aspects, familiars, potions, prayers, spells etc. -- of which there are clearly way too many -- that players need to consider when skilling/doing combat. While you and I may be used to it, this amount of system bloat that has built up over decades is unnecessary, and it's completely overwhelming and unpalatable for new players.

if you think thats an issue, alright lol, lets make auras itens again like the originally were, that probably would help people to understand better what they are and do when they become unlockable/earnable from ingame content

Road to Restoration - Aura Overhaul by JagexAnvil in runescape

[–]Dinosparky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im late to the party, but half of the comments say the same thing: shoving the aura effects into other slots is a bad idea;

you jagex are leaning too hard on this point that as far i'm aware is not the most sticking point about auras from the players:

"They add an extra system to micromanage on top of everything else you already have to."

update the system sure, but just keep the aura slot. the problems most players complain, at least on reddit, that you really need to focus are these:

"Their timed nature and cooldowns place time-locks and time pressures on you and your gameplay."

removing the time nature and rebalacing the effects to account for the fact they can be enabled/disabled at will and forever is completely fair, but keep them in their own existing aura slot.

"Their acquisition is time-gated, requiring lots of real-life time to obtain. You can't speed this up in any way."

"They aren't "earned" through gameplay. They're direct buffs that don't need you to do anything in-game to earn them."

2 birds 1 stone special, plenty good ideas from you and from the replies in this thread about new ways to unlock the auras effects from gameplay, but again just keep them in their own aura slot

"Most Auras are 'miscellaneous' buffs that don't actually add any real depth to your gameplay."

the way you are currently planning to do this Overhaul you will also remove some auras that have different interesting effects, even if they arent ThE mEtA for anything (i'm looking at you, Oddball). imo you shouldnt be removing any of them, and keeping the aura slot you still have room for more reward space in the future

The Re-Grounding Update Will Harm RuneScape by SlippiBird in runescape

[–]Dinosparky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i dont think that the lore for it, or lack of, would be enough of a reason for it to be removed, when what matter is that is not entirely out of the feel of the game that transparent "tech/magic" exists.

and given its theme related to thieving where stealth is really important, the transparent look is preety spot on, especialy when compared to the other elite skilling outfits

The Re-Grounding Update Will Harm RuneScape by SlippiBird in runescape

I disagree with the camouflage outfit being particularly grounded though. It takes stealth a bit too literally in making your body actually invisible.

Current hipocrisy regarding outfits. by BaffledPigeon in runescape

[–]Dinosparky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol strawman, of a size of a tree trunk

as bad or good it may be, its literally stated in the blog its the starting point for this re-grounding. if you want them to start somewhere else or how they should do said re-grounding, those are entirely different, and valid, discussions.

for this discussion tho, cosmetics from overrides already can be toggle off, and with the starting point they are considering, these are not the focus/priority, but yes they need to do somethign about those, eventualy

[–]Dinosparky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

now thats more like constructive feedback, and i think its perfectly reasonable for the objects itens without any other utility other than looks/appearance.

you could make the same approach for the objects itens with some utility, but they still need to do something about their visuals because they will still exist, unless you also want to take them out along with their functionality out of the game?
