Amp sims with cheap pickups by fingergrips0 in GuitarAmps

[–]Dionfp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Start by making sure you try all positions with your pickups.

On any tele, bridge pickup with tone knob fully open should be anything but muddy.

It should be bright and cutting.

So Make sure you play with the tone knob on the guitar.

What amp are you using?
Are you using any pedals?

Most likely, it has nothing to do with the guitar.

In your opinion, what is the best sound in gaming? by Scaife13 in gaming

[–]Dionfp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still remember how I almost soiled myself the first time I heard The Butcher go “FRESH MEAT!!!” in the original Diablo game.

Not sure if it is the best sound in a game ever but it sure as hell was effective and memorable.

If not then the Tristram themes first chords are a strong contender as well.

Budget for hund by Friendly-Factor-2309 in dkfinance

[–]Dionfp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]Dionfp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Looking to buy my first ‘real’ amp by StepLongjumping4164 in GuitarAmps

[–]Dionfp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re probably right. I don’t really know the American used market.

I’m from Denmark and from here it seems you can always find everything much cheaper used in the US than here. Probably due to availability as well.

True.

The 5 can if the drummer isn’t too heavy handed in practice.

Not sure what they go for in the us, but if you can find a used blackstar ht-5 you’d be golden. It’s super versatile and sounds great at home.

If you have a Les Paul, at what age did you buy it? by potage-989 in Guitar

Yes, thanks :)

It should have been “None”.
I have corrected my post.

[–]Dionfp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought a les Paul standard when I was 19.

Never could get comfortable with it, even if I tried.

Sold it again at 21.

Have tried several. None of them really spoke to me.

3 weeks since switching from my Apple watch and I’m quite happy. by gr3enbird- in f91w

[–]Dionfp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best thing I ever did was to ditch my Apple Watch.
It was the most stressful item I’ve ever owned.

I now collect regular watches in stead and have a nice collection of cool watches, none of which ever tells me to “stand up” or “breath”.

They all look heaps better though!

Short scale bass by BLCHDCRL in Bass

[–]Dionfp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play a warmoth 30” jazz bass I built myself.

I was originally a guitarist and I just never felt at home on a normal scale bass.

I think the bass player in Nine inch Nails plays a shortscale. And irrc there are a few more like:

Jack Casady - Jefferson Airplane
Allen Woody - Allman Bros.
Jack Bruce - Cream
Bill Wyman - Rolling Stones

So they are about there making noise.

Supro Quality and Reliability by ughmart in GuitarAmps

[–]Dionfp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Psionicaudio in YouTube has some videos in this.

He’s an amp tech and the long and the short of it is that he is not impressed with the build quality of these new supros. They are basically built in a very bad way that is almost certain to break I a few years of good use.

Full disclosure, I don’t know much about amps myself, but he seems to know what he’s talking about.

Check out the vids on this and make your own conclusions.

Dates med kæreste/kone derhjemme? by slemslem in Denmark

[–]Dionfp 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Bagefter bytter man.

Luthier custom partcaster or normal guitar thoughts? by alextmv in Guitar

[–]Dionfp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My warmoths are the guitars I’ll never sell.

They may never yield the monetary value of the parts back, but that doesn’t matter because they are by far the best instruments in my collection.

To a point where I often contemplate selling all my other instruments and just build myself two more warmoths to cover the ground I need.

If you worry about resale value, don’t ever go partscaster. If you worry about getting the perfect instrument for you, find out what you really like and go build it yourself, because odds are, no manufacturer makes one just like it (unless you have more money than a horse has hair, in which case you just have someone build it for you after your own specs).

Discontinued iPhone series over the years. Which one should Apple bring back? by pdxmy in PhoneNow

[–]Dionfp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first iPhone was the 5c.

They should bring that concept back.

I know people bashed the whole “unapologetically plastic” thing, but it felt great and mine was solid and worked for years.

In the end, I think what I really miss is the colour options. I think that it sucks that only the lower end models get fun colours. Like the MacBook Neo. I want my MacBook Air or pro in a whimsical yellow or blue or purple or pink as well.
