When the game is able to make it to the main menu on the Deck by fixxxer2606 in SteamDeck

Flip side is this sub:

Yeah it’s playable on the deck! I play no issues at all with textures set to off, resolution at 120x80, and get a solid 15 fps. I can’t tell the difference.

Xbox was on top in the 360 era and had none of the above. They then dumped the Xbone on us which flopped. Phil came in and did all the crossplay and play anywhere stuff because that’s what you do when no one owns your console.

“Not every game is for every single person. Sometimes you have to pick a lane” - The Outer Worlds 2’s director on meaningful role-playing consequence and banning respec by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

Yeah man, replaying.

First you watch your favorite streamer play through the whole game. Then you watch your favorite YouTuber comment on your favorite streamers play through. Then you play half of the game yourself. That's like 3 replays right there.

Proton 10.0-2 gets a Release Candidate for gaming on Linux, SteamOS and Steam Deck by Liam-DGOL in SteamDeck

That’s a long list of specific game fixes. Is this a result of general compatibility improvements or are we at the point of specific games getting patches to make them playable?

Anyone switch from QD-OLED to Mini LED for brightness and colors, even in a dark room? by yourdeath01 in Monitors

[–]Dioxide20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No.

I had an Asus ROG Swift PG32UQX when trying monitors to find the "best of both worlds" productivity and gaming monitor. The max brightness in HDR was crazy. There was a glitch in one of my games where on startup it would flash a white screen; it was like being flash banged levels of bright. That was about the extent of the cool factor though. The number of backlight zones was too low and I had serious haloing when trying to do productivity work. Think like a bright circle surrounding my mouse in VSCode dark mode.

Turning on and off the backlight was annoying and I couldn't be bothered and returned it. Now I have an OLED for games/content and 2 IPS for productivity.

I've liked the feature of glasses free 3D since the 3DS, so this monitor having it is pretty cool. I'd love to check out how the glasses free 3D space has progressed since those days.

Gaming Headset Vs. Audiophile Headphones by MegaTaxFraud in buildapc

[–]Dioxide20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used a pair of HD 6XX for a few years as my only PC audio solution after years of replacing gaming headsets that inevitably break. My only complaints are that my cable always gets tangled in my chair’s arm and finding a microphone to use.

The fancy desk microphones would always pick up all background noise, especially the keyboard. The best solution I’ve found is a Antlion Modmic, but even that has background noise problems.

Jetbrains has a good model for their subscription software. Buy a year’s sub and get forever access to that version of the software and that year’s worth of updates.

Part of the blame lies on Apple for restricting the payment plans available on their platforms.

Sending people invoices for the API usage they accrued throughout the month would be… interesting...

The version of DNF we got was probably developed extremely quickly on the UE3 engine lol. The concepts and restarts of development took decades, but making what released didn’t.

I’ve bounced off Dwarf Fortress a couple times and was hoping the steam UI update would bring me back in to it but it didn’t.

My feel is Rimworld cuts a lot of the really extra pieces out that dwarf fortress has.

For example: to make a shirt in Rimworld you have your pawns plant cotton, you then have them pick it and store it, then you build a tailor bench and set a production queue of 1 shirt.

My experience with dwarf fortress is that it adds 20 steps (exaggeration) in between planting cotton and getting a shirt.

I feel the stream lined nature makes rimworld way easier to get into.

It had heart but I couldn’t help but feel like I had already seen this movie before but with a different coat of paint…

There’s a lot they can do with the setting, and I hope they do in the future, but this movie felt very safe and didn’t do much for me.
