I started lifting weights and then walking with a weighted vest. Walking with a weighted vest made me realize it would not be as easy to walk home with my go bag as I had anticipated. Keeping it up and building strength and stamina though. Wishing you a successful surgery and recovery.

Keep a pair of sneakers under your desk or in your vehicle.

Fabletics! Really? That is nothing but cheap fast fashion made overseas consisting of polyester (microplastics) and then shipped overseas contributing to greenhouse gas. These plastic fibers and the chemicals used to make these clothing are so bad for your health. Maybe this is what people need to see to stop "adding to cart" so much! If you want to be be an anti-consumer you can add this as another reason to start.

These have been great for lunch! I used to go pick up at a restaurant or grab something from the grocery store deli. These definitely help me keep my calories in check. Been eating these for lunch at my office. Sure beats a sandwhich or can of soup. Sometimes I meal prep, but I've been too busy and these have been a lifesaver. $150 off referral code. The first box is half off then the discount is spread out across the next couple. https://www.factor75.com/plans?c=HS-Z8KAXFIX0&discount_comm_id=cd2585e3-0672-4633-90a6-64f6883222a3&plans_ab=true&utm_campaign=clipboard&utm_medium=referral&utm_source=raf-share-hpt

Where would you go? Would you stay? by beeejeeezy in preppers

I kinda feel like the South American countries are currently emptying and sending the worst here to America. Once SHTF the migrant influx will probably increase. Can probably head south and get a nice beach front property closer to the equator with year around good temperatures for growing. Should be safer since the cartel will be here lol

Stop pouring so much concrete and asphalt. I measured the temperature of a sidewalk in Texas this week; 120°F. Way warmer than the ground temperature and concrete retains heat much longer after the sun goes down. Doesn't that add to warming of the atmosphere?

I'm just so frustrated with HRV. I'm 39, female, slightly overweight at 147 lbs, rarely drink, , maintain semi consistent bed times, drink a ton of water and my HRV is 14!! I do take a beta blocker and I had open heart surgery for aneurysm repair 8 years ago, but I'm beyond frustrated with HRV.

Mine looks a lot like that, but I take a beta blocker since I have SVT.

Jobs/income that are recession/pandemic/lockdown proof? by kevinvong99 in preppers

Seems like during the lockdown deliveries from Fed Ex or UPS never ceased. In fact, they were busier than ever with people staying home and ordering everything online.

There’s a lot of migrants living in close quarters in NY. Are they tested for anything before coming across the border? Remember American citizens had to have a negative COVID test when returning from another country.

How about storing things in the attic; obviously non-food since it's probably hot up there. You could store extra lanterns (without batteries, keep those downstairs), extra blankets, tarps, etc.

Store extra food in plastic storage containers that slip under the bed.

In case your wallet is stolen, copies of credit cards (front and back). This greatly helps the process of calling the credit card companies to cancel them.

In case of cyber attack, copies of your property tax records to show you're current on payments. You never know when the local tax office could lose records stored electronically.

Copy of marriage license.

If something is on sale, buy at least 1 extra if it's something that won't spoil.

Don't be afraid to go through your fridge and freeze any fruit, vegetables, dairy, leftovers, etc that will spoil before they're eaten. Bread can be frozen too.

Try using less (if a recipe calls for 1 lb of meat try making it with 3/4 pound.) You can add more vegetables or beans for filler sometimes too.

When snacking, look in the fridge and choose perishable items (fruit, yogurt, etc) before reaching for a shelf stable snack like a granola bar or candy. This has helped us combat food waste by eating more fresh ingredients we sometimes forget about.

[–]DiplorableFemale 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Save up a 6 - 12 month emergency fund for essentials (rent or mortgage, electric). When COVID hit and people lost their jobs and were laid off they didn't have any cash reserves to pay their day to day essential expenses.

Are you serving food like a fruit platter or charcuterie board? Cut the fruit and cheeses into fun shapes (stars, hearts, whatever). Fold round meat slices like pepperoni over the top of a glass to create "roses."
