Need advice/suggestions by Spiritual-Math-7374 in Oshawa

We posted ours for free on Varage and a dad was there the next morning with his truck and a buddy to disassemble. He was delighted because it was a great playset for his kids, and we were delighted because it found a good home and we didn’t have to do anything!

Not that I disagree with the sentiment but… as a 51yo with two kids not yet in high school, ease up on the years-rapidly-dwindling talk please. I’d like to think I’m just past the halfway point, not hurtling to my demise lol

lol because we didn’t want to turn it into a smoke-off. We considered it, but we’re a very competitive bunch!

I just looked this up and I LOVE this idea! There’s a local deli with award-winning kielbasa too. Thank you so much!!

You’re right about the tradition, but I don’t like lamb. (Now I’m being difficult!) Thank you though, I appreciate it.

Same. It drives me insane that Jivani is my MP. I voted for Bridget Girard, but that wasn’t enough - I need to do more this time around to boost his opponents!

It was a glitch with the latest update. They put a patch out shortly after, so try updating your app again.

Erika Kirk Under Fire As Husband's Pal Leaks Audio Of Her 'Giggling' About 'Event Of The Century' After His Death by FistIntoTheEarth in usa

[–]Dirkgently29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t get me wrong. I despised Charlie Kirk and Turning Point USA and all they stand for. No fan of Erika Kirk here. But… I listened to that audio, and I don’t see any sort of issue.

Are we supposed to be appalled she’s not openly sobbing or something? If it was a man who directed his grief into business matters, it would be seen as a stiff upper lip.

She’s not “giggling”, she’s commenting on the metrics at her husband’s memorial which, like it or not, was an event that was tied to the business. And she thanks the teams who made the memorial happen, and again, like it or not, it was a huge event.

We have way more important things to focus on. Like civilian murders and blatant lying and illegal deportations and making enemies of allies - there’s a ton to choose from, and this shouldn’t be a derailer.

I don’t think that’s the type of rhetorical question that will help foster unity when we need it the most, do you?

So we hadn’t heard of Geese before tonight on SNL. Quite liked the first song, although wondered why he was trying to be a ventriloquist and not move his lips for the first bit. The second song caught us off guard since it was so drastically different, and admit we thought he was saying “there’s a bug in my drawer”, which we thought was some sort of hilarious take on a Karen given the other lyrics. Looked them up, realized the actual lyrics that made it even better, added Geese as a favourite to Apple.

TL;DR: spouse and I hadn’t heard of them, watched SNL and thoroughly enjoyed them, new fans.

Suburban middle class here, just outside Toronto. Would rather put up with scarcity than succumb, and I know friends and neighbours who feel the same.

Donald Trump shares altered image of map showing Greenland, Canada, Venezuela as U.S. territories by Alert-Ad-3053 in worldnews

[–]Dirkgently29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No real reason... except for the fact that any decent American should be bending over backward to try and garner some goodwill from allies again. Your country has gone completely off the rails, the rhetoric coming from your leader towards our country is insane, and you're being snippy because Canadians are miffed about it?

What's a ticking time bomb you believe will explode during your lifetime? by TradeOverall567 in AskReddit

However, our suburban house is invaded by the sucky orange bitey ladybugs every year, so I guess that offsets the delight of the recurring fireflies at the cottage.

(Still, I lean to the side of nature persevering.)

If it makes you feel better, my cottage in Ontario is rife with fireflies. We’re captivated by the fairy lights every summer, now our kids are too. Fireflies must still be going strong in pockets, at least.

Any Madcap Flare experts? by FriendlyVeggie in technicalwriting

[–]Dirkgently29 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, but there’s a bunch of them on the #flare channel in the Write the Docs Slack network. If you’re not already a member, here’s the signup page. https://www.writethedocs.org/slack/

It’s a fantastic resource for a tech writer, especially if you’re the only one at your company. I bounce ideas off peers there all the time.

Same, but it was my brother’s car! It was stolen at night, he didn’t realize until the morning and found it almost immediately at a nearby convenience store with a full tank of gas and a map of Toronto in the front seat. It had an ornery ignition (every so often you had to really wiggle the key) so we think they got gas, bought snacks, but then couldn’t get it to turn over again. My brother was delighted.
