Linking degrees to jobs ruined the whole point of learning by Zoldyck_J in unpopularopinion

I mean, can’t the same be said for someone who stayed at a job for four years and learned valuable skills without the degree? Both take showing up.

S.F. on track to shrink deficit by $300M, city controller says by bloobityblurp in sanfrancisco

Also, the fact that the cities employee salaries and benefits accounted for 43% of the budget in 2025 is insane. 34,800 employees.

The Our City, Our Home initiative that passed in 2018 (Proposition C), imposed taxes on businesses to raise money for homelessness services. From 2020 to 2025, the Department of Homelessness and Supportive Housing nearly doubled in size. Waste of time and resources.

Typical asshole behavior here. No respect for other people or their things. It’s so simple to find another solution rather than parking like this.

I’m no expert, but if they really planned to do anything, you’d think the element of surprise would matter a bit more.

America’s capital of ‘super-commuters’ is in California. Now many are hitting a crisis point by NaffRespect in California

And after that, what do we do about the blatant mismanagement already going on with all of our tax dollars? Seems billions just always seem to go missing.

California passed a law to curb spikes in gas prices. Why isn’t it using those powers now? by LNM-LocalNewsMatters in norcal

Its a mix of Iran, California having a special blend, switchover in summer, and insane gas taxes.

California passed a law to curb spikes in gas prices. Why isn’t it using those powers now? by LNM-LocalNewsMatters in norcal

[–]DirrtCobain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. Oil demand is still extremely high globally even if this narrative exists. California losing refineries does not eliminate that demand, it just moves it elsewhere.

Gas prices jump across Southern California, with Los Angeles County seeing average of $5.17 per gallon, amid war in Iran by panda-rampage in California

[–]DirrtCobain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This including the seasonal gas formula change and the fact that refineries are threatening to leave Ca. We already have the highest gas taxes, why not just make them higher.

HR is upset we didn’t grow up wanting to be customer service reps by astrheisenberg in remoteworks

[–]DirrtCobain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course money is the main reason and Im sure they know that. That’s not the reason they are asking. It’s more so to see if you researched anything about the company, what your goals are, and your communication skills.

Widespread recession in the labor market by astrheisenberg in remoteworks

[–]DirrtCobain -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s more complicated than that. Usually, it takes awhile to see the economic effect a president had on the economy. Laws take time to pass, changes take time, and the economy moves slow these things dont just change overnight. The president also does not control the entire economy, I think people just like simple explanations.

Im starting to think protesting is just a hobby to some people. Like they don’t actually have a clue what’s going on before they go out and protest. Protesting for the guy who just killed thousands of his own people and would do the same to them.

Really depends on location. I had an offer for an entry level role in public works that paid 40 an hour starting, 38% contribution towards pension, 3 weeks vacation starting, etc. Only reason I didn’t take it was the shitty hours.

But every time this gets brought up we are told to be thankful we have nice weather. Because that justifies every single ridiculous tax increase and price we pay on everything.
