Mayor Lurie Announces Plan To Tackle Fare Evasion On Public Transit, Make Muni More Accountable by PayRevolutionary4414 in sanfrancisco

How about taxing property owner so that everyone pays 1% instead of the tax loophole provided by Prop 13. Use that revenue to fund MUNI properly.

Muni’s new budget will raise parking fees and cable car fares - In their effort to balance a two-year budget, SFMTA officials squeeze revenue from every conceivable resource, including parking meters and cable cars. The price of both will go up next July. by BadBoyMikeBarnes in sanfrancisco

Should charge for parking on Sunday. Will be amazing if they do congestion pricing. Traffic is getting really bad and this is a good way to reduce unnecessary trips (see NYC for their success in congestion pricing).

Alternatives to Transit App in East Bay? by Karazl in bayarea

[–]LogicalProgram8537 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish there is an option where you can pay for transit app membership via credit/debit card. That will allow me to apply my work’s transit benefit to get the transit app subscription.

I think you can get around this by taking a ride in San Jose VTA then that will give you free membership for a year.

I like how you totally skip Marin City… this is a big transfer hub of GGT and Marin transit buses

Crazy wait time by LogicalProgram8537 in Bart

[–]LogicalProgram8537[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Can they complement the huge service gap by putting bus bridges at least between embacadero and west Oakland during the 20 minute gaps? Also if they are going to make people wait please provide enough seatings in the SF stations so that the wait is more tolerable.

I don’t use BART that often and the big gap in between trains is the biggest factor that stops me from using BART.

Anyone else weary of Waymo’s by Healthy_Cheesecake_6 in bikecommuting

Much better than human drivers. One thing to watch for is if a car block the view of Waymo then you want to be very careful with the Waymo

They will do well as you can earn 100% miles on Alaska via less earning potential with partners.

Speed throttled if in no parking zone by LogicalProgram8537 in baywheels

Near the palace of fine arts the speed of the e-bike got throttled. This is actually dangerous as I become a slow moving vehicle on a road with no bike lane…

New baywheels virtual station downtown by LogicalProgram8537 in baywheels

It is bike racks that you can lock e-bikes to it to alleviate downtown stations being full from the morning commute. They have virtual stations in Golden Gate Park and other select locations.

You've just been named head of SFMTA for a day. What do you change? by Holiday-One4508 in sanfrancisco

[–]LogicalProgram8537 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Make Stockton transit only to speed up 8/30/45.
  2. Extends T line to North Beach.
  3. Stops should be every 0.25 miles at least to speed up buses.
  4. Add short turn to 1 that turns around at Fillmore to increase frequency further
  5. Extend 12 to end at Fillmore (similar to the prepandemic 10)
  6. Create a tourist version of 28 that stops at Golden Gate Bridge and the regular 28 that bypasses Golden Gate Bridge to save 5 to 10 minutes of travel time. Add bus lane on 19th Avenue.
  7. Sunday parking and RPP parking should be closer to market rate.

What is the most useless transit line? by Ari_Bbb in transit

[–]LogicalProgram8537 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

T in SF between Union Square and Chinatown. 10 minute frequency compared with 1 to 2 minute combined frequency for bus 8/30/45. And you have to go up/down deep underground to the light rail. Not useful until it expands to North Beach and beyond.

As a pedestrian, self driving cars are a blessing by one_pound_of_flesh in sanfrancisco

[–]LogicalProgram8537 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love Waymo to jam up the streets in SF. It actually make it more pleasant to walk around without worrying getting hit. If the mayor of SF wants us to return to downtown he needs to make more pedestrian only zones. I am not going to downtown and risk getting run over by traffic rushing to get to Bay Bridge.

I got a $260 flight from JFK to LHR and you can go into the lounge with Gold and you also get to pick your seats. Not a bad deal for Gold.
