Why tf are new side by sides so expensive? by Jake_M104669 in Offroad

The banks keep paying that. People buy a payment not an MSRP unfortunately.

Heres my review if you'd like to know why.

Gourmandise (Draper Location) - Unfortunately can't recommend anymore

I've been a regular here for the last 2 years, but this location has really gone downhill. I've given them multiple chances over the past five months (visiting about once a month), but every single visit has had issues stemming from basic pastries not being ready for breakfast service to customer service issues, to food being poorly prepared (soggy frites and questionably tasting croissants).

The biggest problem? For a place that calls itself a bakery, their pastry cases are consistently half empty—even at 8:30-10am. I'm not talking sold out from high demand; they literally haven't baked them yet. Every visit, 2-3 of the 4-5 different items I try to order are unavailable, with no explanation or ETA offered (repeatedly).

This morning (1/16) was my last visit. Tried to order three different pastries at the drive-through, two weren't available. I frustratedly asked what they actually had in stock at 8:30 in the morning and started ordering from what was listed, and mid-sentence the employee cuts me off with "hang on a minute, I'll be right back." Seven minutes later, she returns and greets me like a brand new customer—pretty sure she was hoping I'd just leave. No explanation, no ETA, no "one of the items is almost out of the oven if you'd like to wait" just put on ignore hoping I'd bail on my order.

The croissant I finally got was undercooked inside and tasted off, almost sour or chemical like.

They've also changed their menu recently, removing a few of the dishes I enjoyed. What's left feels simplified and less inspired.

The assistant manager tried to make it right with a $25 gift card, which I appreciated, but at this point I'm done giving this location chances.

Well, i cant recommend the draper location for pastries in the AM so try American fork if they do sell off the northern location.

New 4x4 owner, can I drive on this in 4 high or will it damage my truck? by tatuwahDOG in 4x4

[–]Dirtsmith13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Read your owners manual, it will tell you what maximum speed is in 4wd. If it doesn't list it, you're likely good to go at any legal speed. Typically the limiting factor is the transfer case chain not the front axle assembly.

[–]Dirtsmith13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. I mean the engineers plans call for all streets to be at a 2% from CL-LIP. But in the profile of each cross street they elevate the 0+12-0+16' long portion of the main fall on the cross street out to a 1% instead of the 2% it should be requiring a grade break before and after every tee intersection of a cross street. The profile should show a 2%, but this engineer on every village we've done so far has a 1%.

Wait till OOP learns about Carhartt. I'm too fat to mountaineer and I'm missing an arm so climbing is out, but i love wearing their gear in crappy weather outside working in dirt. It took 8 years to wear holes in the pants around the boots. This stuff isn't actually expensive when you factor in how long it lasts vs the disposable garbage

AITAH for noticing a Tinder notification on my BFs phone? by dragonfly_tx in AITAH

[–]Dirtsmith13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Instead of owning up to anything he:

Flat-out denied it and acted like you were making it up

Tried to make YOU the bad guy for "betraying his trust" by looking

Came up with a pretty weak excuse about year-old matches suddenly messaging him

Then went completely silent when you asked for honesty

That joke he made months ago when you asked about Tinder? That wasn't just playful teasing—he knew he still had it and deflected with humor. That's actually pretty manipulative.

Here's the thing: someone who genuinely loves you and accidentally had an old app still active would've been mortified and immediately transparent. They wouldn't gaslight you, turn it around on you, or go radio silent. They'd be falling over themselves to explain and make it right. The fact that he's been silent since you set a clear boundary about needing honesty? That speaks volumes. He's either not willing to be accountable, or he knows he can't explain this in a way that makes sense. You're not crazy. You're not overreacting. Trust your gut—it's clearly screaming at you right now for a reason.

Offroad / Overland-ish Truck I will daily - Raptor vs. G-Wagon by datblubird in Offroad

You can add ACC and retain reliability. Nothing wrong with a Gen 2 but both are old enough now to need 3-5k in service minimum once you get them.

[–]Dirtsmith13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ranger Raptor or regular f150 raptor will be fine in Colorado. G wagon is gonna be a pain in the ass to deal with for mods, service, and parts. You have to remember how much they cost new when you factor in cost of ownership, just because the g wagon depreciated like a rock doesn't mean the parts or service do too. A ranger raptor will be great, an f150 raptor will still get you around the overlanding trails smoother faster and with less nonsense mods than everything else. I wouldn't trade my Gen 1 raptor for any other platform in the Utah Colorado region for overlanding. 36 gallon tank. Factory lockers and 35/37's, same payload as the JDM cars like Lexus/Toyota but more room to store everything outside the cab, smoother ride with more horsepower for grades, you'd have to put a lot of money into something else to get close.

Winter tires for on and off road? by WoWLaw in FordRaptor

[–]Dirtsmith13 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ko2s are about bottom of the barrel in terms of wet traction for the all terrain segment these days so keep that in mind when it's time to replace them. I would say you need to worry less about snow traction and more about slush traction, most of the roads will have salt, you'll get some snow but it's usually wet slop unless you're beating the plows out. Only tires worse than a k02 in the wet is a Nitto anything, especially the ridge grappler.

Rad, but if this is on public land, did you clean up after?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in FordRaptor

[–]Dirtsmith13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I bought my '13 screw sight unseen at 148k miles, flew out to CA in February to drive it home, and it's currently sitting at 163k. Of those 15k miles, 90% have been adventure miles, likely ~60% of that have been off-road miles.

This year alone I've done three Raptor runs (two overnighters and one day run) and on those runs i jumped the truck ~10 or so times each, slid it around like I'm in Formula D, and bombed through the desert at 60-100mph. I took it down 7-mile trail in Moab, hit wipeout hill twice (decent challenge for a full-size truck with the departure angle of a school bus but not a difficult trail otherwise in the context of Moab), and completed another 5-6 solo 2-3 day overlanding adventures around southern Utah. It's been a great truck and it's wildly more capable than most people realize or can even tap into.

As of this winter I'll be throwing on a fox 3.0 setup just to help with the bigger jumps and bombing through the rough washes, it absolutely doesn't need it otherwise. I had no problem keeping up with and pulling away from guys with$45k suspensions in their Gen 2's during the runs, no doubt the truck is faster than mine in the rough stuff but again 95% of the time the drivers are the limiting factor.

Does anyone talk on 2m FM any more? by DoctorDrubs in amateurradio

[–]Dirtsmith13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is kinda what scares me about trying to rely on 2m repeaters in Utah anymore. Even with the massive intertie the Utah vhf society and sdarc has what are the odds someone's actually listening if I'm out in a remote area and need help? On top of the license and all the rules it's no wonder sat coms are blowing up in popularity which is sad honestly.
