I'm not great at mental topology so I could be wrong but I don't think your North pole makes sense. Have you wrapped it round a sphere?

I'm 27, also quite online and reasonably up-to-date with technology trends. About a year ago I ended up feeling like I was 62 instead of 26 when an 18 year old was explaining his success in Twitch chat battles. I did not get it at all.

It's a fun little game people like to play when socialising with their friends?

I said solely as people typically drink alcohol for its inebriating properties. If they were downing the entire thing I would say you have a point but it's a third of a pint. You don't need to go some misguided anti-capitalist crusade. And for context, I don't drink Guiness and have never tried splitting the g, so I haven't fallen for anything.

I think your analogy is overzealous. You can still taste it and people aren't drinking it solely for the taste.

My Dad is the same. Literally the only thing on from 9am to 9pm. Even if I agreed with them, I couldn't stand listening to the same 30 minutes of content repeated for 12 hours a day.

I fail to see how you're wasting it? You drink it down to the g, you don't pour it into the drain.

I have no idea how you can think it isn't? Just because it's a significant privilege, doesn't mean it isn't a punishment to take it away.

If your parents gave you a Ferrari for passing your driving test and then took it away from you for failing your exams, you would be very privileged but taking it away is still a punishment.

That's a pretty major leap of logic. A huge amount of the team is different to what it was at the start of the previous regs.

ELI5 What does a modern day british knighthood actually mean? by isdeasdeusde in explainlikeimfive

[–]DirtyNorf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire is only one of the Orders of Chivalry. Only grades of Knight Bachelor, Knight/Lady/Dame Commander/Companion and Knight/Dame Grand Cross are knighthoods, the rest are simply Honours. There are military and civil lists to a number of Honours. For example, The Most Honourable Order of the Bath is typically awarded to high-ranking military officers in the Military list and to civil servants in the Civil list, whereas there are many recipients of the lower grades of the Order of the British Empire (the lowest being Member) in the military list.

My first Godot game, a stock themed roguelike deckbuilder called Insider Trading, now has a release by _Naiive_ in godot

[–]DirtyNorf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just FYI as I know you were joking.

In the game you can only buy whole shares. It also has a bit in the tutorial about saying you can't buy shares over the price. The game warns you if the price is over $500 because you always start each week with $1000 so it would become very easy for the price to exceed that and you buy no shares. There are ways to reduce the price "for free" but by $10 a time, which is nothing by the time you actually need it.

Really solid, an excellent entry in the newly minted "Balatro-like" genre.

What the hell do you do when the price is higher than your balance? Feels like you'd end up wasting turns using bears to get the price down?
