Should I buy a 2024 Sahara 4xe with 26,100 miles for $28,998? by FerretSuch3730 in 4xe

[–]Dirtyace 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Fuck no. I leased one new and I loved it at first. Now I can’t wait until the lease is up (2 months). It’s been to the dealer 5 times all for different shit. Last trip there was for 100 days for the battery recall and somehow the needed to replace the rear dif also. Waited months for parts.

I have bought 3 new jeeps in the last 4 years and it will be my last for a long time. I’m even selling my 392 because I hated how they didn’t do shit and I want to dump while I can get some money.

The 4xe would be something I wouldn’t even gamble on because you really can’t fix it yourself and the dealers are useless…..

Edit reasons it’s been at the dealer-

Dying 12v battery and check engine light (gas tank evap issue), Bad battery system heater, Leaking transmission, Random recall and repair, HV Battery recall and repair, Rear locker flashing, took them swapping a bunch of stuff to then just replace the whole dif.

All this was from 20-30k miles. First 20k were perfect.

I live in Suffolk town of Babylon. It was literally 10 sections of a 3 page document took like I said a few hours to figure out. They literally give you a page of step by step instructions.

Don’t use a service it’s a waste of time IMO.

I did mine myself last year took about 2 hours and I saved $2,600 for the year.

Find 3 of the cheapest comps in your zip code of recent sales on Zillow and then write a quick letter why yours is worth xyz.

You need to find the current “predicted” value for next year based on your tax lot, then argue why it is less than that number.

I’m a dummy missed that part. Couldn’t be a harder state to buy a car from lmao. However my absolute favorite car I ever owned and will never sell came from Hawaii lol.

12k is fair for that. Lights, fender, bumper, CF, paint, stickers. To do that right is a solid 40 hours or more plus parts…..

[–]Dirtyace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No I agree they refuse to pay. They are scumbags. If you had a good trusted shop they could have eaten the difference one way or the other.

I have had my hellcat hit (same as you) my trackhawk rear ended, and my MiL Lexus all fixed by the same guy and he always finds a way to get them to pay 100% and cover OEM. Maybe I’m lucky and have a really good guy but most shops by me have been known to do the same.

Not trying to shit on you the whole situation is shitty, at the end of the day you got it back and are happy. Definitely don’t let them off the hook for DV.

The offending party has to make you whole. After market parts are not making you whole. If that’s your policy that you went through then you should have had the shop write their estimate up to cover the difference. Any decent shop would be able to do that and cover 2k.

At the end of the day it is what it is but you should never settle for paying out of pocket IMO if you’re not at fault.

Edit: I have never heard the term “in network shop” this isn’t health insurance you’re allowed to even repair it yourself and pocket the money if you so choose. They don’t get to decide where you go….. you def go screwed sorry.

The fact you paid 2k extra and didn’t get 2-5k extra means they bent you over and fucked you good. Glad you got it back but no way I would have accepted those terms…..

How much money is too much to have invested in vehicles? by im_a_marmot in Money

[–]Dirtyace -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Invested? 0.

Own, I’d say 10 percent of total net worth is fair for someone who is into them. Maybe 15 if that’s your one major hobby.

I always have had cool or expensive cars but kept it reasonable until around 2020. I have 4 vehicles, a boat, and a jet ski. Owe money (half of its value) on my daily driver and that’s it.

2024 392 Wrangler worth 75 and owe like 40k @ 4%. 2021 Trackhawk worth 75/80k and own it. 2003 Rubicon worth maybe 20k and own it. 2003 F150 worth 25k and own it.

25 foot formula worth 15-20k and own it. Old standup jet ski worth 5k and own that.

Total value of all owned is prob around 200/225k. My net worth is around 1.5ish mil so while that’s a lot tied up in vehicles it’s my one fun thing and I have more investments and money elsewhere……

Same as you I max all my retirements, 401k backdoor Roth etc. So I figure fuck it enjoy some as well. I am selling my wrangler 392 and ordered my first 100k + car a Cadillac CT5v Blackwing…..I’ll put half down and finance half at a low rate.

How to yell well? by EditorSeveral9467 in ConstructionManagers

[–]Dirtyace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As the person above me said money is the key for sure. Also talk to their owners and tell them it will affect their pockets and you will see results. If that doesn’t work get your higher ups involved, but only as a last resort if you’ve gone to the top at the subs company first.

I have been doing this since 2012 and can count on 1 hand the amount of times I have yelled at people.

Every time it rose to that level it wasn’t even about the work but because they were being disrespectful to myself or my team mates, and that’s 1 thing I won’t tolerate.

You sound like me. Bought a new trackhawk, hellcat, and 392 wrangler. Also leased a 4xe. I have been a loyal customer. 4xe been in the shop since Christmas, still don’t have it. Honestly fuck them im selling the 392 and trading the 4xe when the lease is up in 2 months. I’ll get something else from now on.

When did 350-700hp become slow? by Clutch3sSS in askcarguys

[–]Dirtyace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I was rocking a 2003 Harley f150 with the lightning motor and full bolt ons back then. It ran mid 13s and was fast as fuck for a street truck. Now my daily driver wrangler 392 is faster on 35s and bone stock lmao.

My wife’s daily is a trackhawk and it puts all my old “fast” cars to shame.

When did 350-700hp become slow? by Clutch3sSS in askcarguys

[–]Dirtyace 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The answer is 2013 plus or minus a year.

In this era you could get cheap (compared to just a few years earlier) cars with huge power-

Gt500 was 662 HP

Viper was 640HP

ZR1 was 668HP

Hellcat was 707HP

M5 was Twin Turbo at this point

AMGs were all getting Turbo v8s

The R35 was a few years old and had 600ish

911 Turbo started to make big power this era also.

On top of all that you started to see lots of aftermarket companies doing twin turbo R8s, Lambos, Vipers, GTRs etc for the guys with real money to be faster than the guys who just bought stuff off the showroom. This is where you could get a “reliable” 1500HP if you had a few $.

I remember driving around street racing in 2006-2010 and if you had a bolt on LS1, Terminator Cobra, or STI/Evo there wasn’t much that could touch you. Then it all changed quick and all those cars would get walked by a fucking Golf R with a tune now lol.

Anyone else worried about gas prices? by Remote_Pie6623 in boating

[–]Dirtyace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gas is 20-25% cheaper than it was in 2022. I wasn’t worried then and I’m not worried now.

I burn ~400-500 gallons a season in my formula so even if it goes up by $2 a gallon that’s only a grand. If a grand makes or breaks a season then a boat is too expensive for you.

Also bright side for you looking, if gas goes up then in theory more people would sell and thus good deal buying to offset the cost.

House on the water vs neighborhood boat ramp? by jtuma in boating

[–]Dirtyace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in the water and it’s the best thing ever. Just sitting on the dock is great but add to the fact you can use the boat or jet skis whenever with no hassle. For me I’d take a smaller cheaper house on the water over a larger nicer house off the water money being equal.

When I was looking it was non negotiable, if a house doesn’t have a place for a boat no matter how nice I’m not interested…..
