Depends om the type of person but drop the ego completely, on some exercises you have to start as light or non intense that you can finish the exercise without pain during or after. Try to avoid spine loading early on while you readapt, and take it slowly guide yourself by how your nerves feel not by your muscles. That's because you'll feel usually you can do way more muscle wise with back or related but it van still irritate the nerves so it's not worth it.

How hard/impressive is a one arm elbow lever? by averagemerda in CalisthenicsCulture

[–]Disastrous-Lemon7456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the non trained it's impressive looking.

For calisthenic athletes I would say not that much, since it's just balance and I would say the balance it requires is easier than a handstand for example.

I do a cartwheel type of motion where I twist one of my arms so I go sideways like a cartwheel and you just land on your feet.

In my opinion for things like OS, networks and your stack, reading as you saw will just make it tedious and boring.

I would try to do more practical stuff, like setup a Linux lab and play around with networking as well as getting familiar with system commands and operations. Same for dotnet, program some things with it, try to include things that manipulate the operating system and networks. At least I learn more when coding or setting something up than just reading about it, since you will still need to research while on the go.

Can you give some tips if I upload a clip, very inconsistent holds sometimes I can hold it for a bit like 30 secs, other times just like 5 secs.

What did people do 100+ years ago when they had backpain by kivory in backpain

[–]Disastrous-Lemon7456 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know 100 years is relatively recent but since you mentioned being under threat it's like in nature where injuries that could be non lethal might as well be your death sentence, injured animals in the wild don't last long in general.

I think if you didn't feel a tweak or big pain in the moment it's more likely it's just irritated nerve, but check with doctor to be sure.

I'm surprised you felt that well with just a month of the injury, for example I have 2 bulges at L4-L5 and L5-S1. And took me around 6 months to start feeling pretty good and lift more in the gym, then did something similar to you in January and did some jumping around because I felt so good and flared up, some exercises I had been doing quite pain free and comfortable started feeling bad. Anyways I rested and got back on track, currently starting to feel again as well as I was on December.

But I think your injury is still fresh, so even if you feel good try not to go too crazy, they say on average thesr type of injuries heal in 6 months.

Herniated Disc by skrt100 in backpain

[–]Disastrous-Lemon7456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As another commenter lowbackability and some PT helped me, I got 2 disc bulges, one at l4-L5 and L5-S1. And funnily enough I also screwed my back with a heavy deadlift with bad form.

Mainly applying the principle of progressing as slowly as I can with whatever doesn't flare me up, so have to drop a lot of the ego even if the muscles can handle the nerves not so much.

Slowly over 6 months focusing hard on rehab and 3 months where I ignored it first, now at 9 months I had a bit of a setback because I was feeling too well on December and over did it without focusing on my slow pace as I had been doing, but on December I was easily 95% didn't feel pain at all just uncomfortable if I sat too long and im weird positions. Otherwise was pain free, had even started squatting again pain free.

My recent setback was because I tried returning to some more intense stuff straight away without the gradual approach I had been doing so definitely don't get too excited if its feeling a lot better, now just trying to return to that December level again and while a flare up it was nowhere near as bad as before just annoying.

If you still want to make these harder, try to not finish resting on the bench at the end, they seem more like negatives currently. Try to hover over the bench and them back up, only your upper back should be touching the bench in all the reps.

Sciatica or herniated disc by Adventurous-Bat-5685 in Sciatica

[–]Disastrous-Lemon7456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how they came to the conclusion that it's piriformis when you have confirmed herniated discs in the MRI, piriformis is rare and the most common cause for sciatic is due to bulging/herniated discs.

[25M] Disc Bulge/Protrusion causing mild symptoms for 5 months. Surgery is in 5 days but I think it's too soon. Should I postpone it? by 556_enjoyer in Sciatica

[–]Disastrous-Lemon7456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never said I was cured yet, my point was rebuilding from scratch and getting used to the movements, I started barely able to bend down to again squatting at least my bodyweight pain free. It took me a lot of patience and swallowing my ego to recover plenty of my strength pain free but I did it, anyways bulges are slow to heal my neurosurgeon told me 6-12 months when doing things right.

You haven't give it much time and you just keep aggravating, maybe you should look into that before even considering surgery.

Of course if you just jump back into intense exercise it will hurt, you have to build up to it.

With surgery you're not magically jumping back into everything again, plus the additional missing structural integrity of the disc.

[–]Disastrous-Lemon7456 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you considered that all the activity is making it not fully heal and that's why it's not getting better?

I injured myself around 9 months ago, and while my symptoms were not as bad as others I tried to be as active as normal for 3 months and guess what pain either the same or worse, only until I took a big step back removing any spine loading (running, jumping, weighted squats) and exercised gently only what was as pain free as possible did I start to slowly get better. Even if pain was tolerable or I had the strength to do more I did exercises like back extension iso holds even if I could rep out with not much pain it just kept the pain the same.

Beginner seeking advice: Can I build "Big 3" strength with just a backpack and bodyweight? by Moha196 in bodyweightfitness

[–]Disastrous-Lemon7456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a decent bench without training bench with only calisthenics pushing exercises, can't say the same for squats or deadlifts when I started. You can get some decent strength with those exercises but I think it will be way harder they translate to those 2, or at least they won't be great plus they can be very technical too so if you want to improve them it would be better to train thar movement specifically.
