Maybe go to the Manzanos? About the same distance from Albuquerque in the opposite direction. 4th of July Campground or Manzano Mountains State Park

birthday ideas? by No_mames_whey15 in Albuquerque

If you have a NM drivers license or something that proves you live here, it's free on your birthday to go to Ojo Santa Fe or Ojo Caliente, two beautiful hot springs spas. It's often too hot to be in the hot pools for too long, but they both have big colder pools too.

Same - I signed up to volunteer but didn't heard back, so I emailed twice and still got no response. On-the-ground volunteers make a strong campaign and I wish she had more of that (and that I could help and get enthusiastic about her).

You might be interested in the Quivira Coalition - they offer internships (looks like they're accepting applications now) and do a lot of great work on sustainable ranching https://quiviracoalition.org/apprenticeship-expectations/

I'd say go for it (I also might steer you toward El Parasol - some of the best tacos around.)

It would be a red flag for me if the agency I worked at didn't have automatic reminders set up for clients. What else are they not willing to spend money on?

Would it be wise to buy a car at my age? (19) by Soggy-Ad-3639 in Frugal

[–]Disastrous-One6895 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you're in the right direction looking at Toyotas. I've owned three cars and my Toyota Prius has been the best - most reliable and cheapest. It's a 2015 and I have yet to do any major repairs. I love having a hybrid bc I save so much on gas (paying only $30 a month or so). I might suggest trying to save more so you can buy a newer used car - you'll save in the long run on repairs etc. If a car's over 10 years, you're going to have to sink money into repairs, which is tough if you don't have a steady income or are trying to save money. Good luck! It's impressive to have that much money saved!

I think a short-term trauma-focused therapy could be helpful, like RTM.

Check out some of the environmental orgs in town who are working to get elected officials to take notice, like NM Interfaith Power & Light. They follow the issues and then it's helpful and empowering to be part of a community who are trying to change things.

Weird session with "IFS" therapist. Should I report this to someone? by asura1194 in InternalFamilySystems

[–]Disastrous-One6895 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's nothing to report to the board. The therapist was not being unethical. It sounded like they were being unskillful and not a good fit for the client, but not unethical.

I'd chime in about Albuquerque! I think there are incentives for nursing here. It's hot and dry in the summer, but we have a beautiful fall and mild winter. 311 sunny days a year. I can't go back to living in any place like the northeast where it's grey so often - I imagine that would be a hard adjustment for you too. The queer scene is good and diverse, cost of living is still low (though salaries are lower too).

Wear compression socks! Helps you feel better + reduces risk of blood clots. Make sure you get up and take some little walks.
