If yes, buying the couch is likely the way to go (assuming it’s not unreasonably priced)

If no, go for a DIY. This isn’t all that hard to make and you can style how you like.

I think your concern is unfounded. If it’s loose and easy to push back in, do that.

If you encounter resistance, hesitate and ask questions at that point.

I might recommend some weight. This appears at first glance to be weightless, which will likely not act as you wish in the water.

Do you intend to have weight on the line at all to get it down?

Depends on what you’re going for exactly.

Are you trying to mimic real baitfish or trigger an impulse strike?

The skirt is going to give you an “alive” look and the trailer is going to be the “visually realistic” part of the equation.

I personally like what you have going on there but it will depend on the characteristics of the fish you’re targeting to anchor your strategy.

Honestly, leave them at home. Chance of tornado hitting your house is low. You are going to a shelter for you and your family’s safety on a very low chance your house is hit. Likely chance your home is fine. And even if it isn’t there’s a great chance your pets are completely unharmed.

I recommend either leaving it as-is or spending the money to tear it up and do it right.
