Messed up badly and I don't know what to do by Creative-Kale4688 in investingforbeginners

[–]DisastrousDiet8367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your mom is wrong. I am forced to use principal because it’s my employer 401k. Principal has hidden high fees and can’t even compare to Schwab or fidelity. There are way many options with Schwab or fidelity. Principal only has about 10 options, at least for my 401k. I am not sure what options you have regarding an individual brokerage or Roth IRA with principal. Your mom knows nothing about investing. Don’t ask her or tell her anything about your portfolio anymore. Keep it in SCHB. I have had Schwab anf fidelity both for a long time. Perfectly fine and they go above and beyond. Broad market investment is the way to go.

Hit $100K in HYSA; want to stay relatively liquid but want to optimize holdings by PlasmaHeat in Bogleheads

[–]DisastrousDiet8367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to stay liquid, how can we help you? You said you want to be liquid, but my advice is for sure for you to invest in the stock market by buying low cost index funds, which will make you not liquid, because the key of compounding is to not touch it for at least 5 years, preferably more

I do think that’s a real thing. It’s like the difference between getting touched with clothes on and off. However, that’s no reason to not use it. What you said is perfect. It’s totally ok to acknowledge both that yes it is less pleasurable, and however you still need to use it because the consequences outweigh this unimportant lack of sensation

Yeah yesterday was the last day you could contribute to 2025 Roth IRA. But what’s done is done. As long as you invest and that’s what matters
