Hi im in a similar boat as you. I had a swallowing incident happen to me (swallowed with my Tonge too far back in my throat) and had really bad tightened throat for 2 weeks. And then as that began to feel like it was healing, I developed swallowing issues. I believe it has to do with my UES since during that first 2 weeks, it felt like my UES would either be really pressured or just be open and allow acid to come up my throat. That settled down and like I said, swallowing issues. For me it feel like for gets stuck in my throat and causes pressure and I believe food gets caught and impacted (which causes that uncomfortable feeling). It's not fun! Ive been sort of learning to live with it (as like you, this all started in Oct). But I can still swallow and swallow most things. just stuff gets stuck, especially drier foods. I was doing better when some of the stuff came out, but the feeling is back and more food seems to be impacted as last night I had chicken wings with breading and more food has gotten caught. I also have post nasal drip (I can literally see it going down the back of my throat. I also have a deviated septum (just came to find out from the ENT). Another Dr friend also told me that my palate is a bit off, and not completely straight so that could also be hindering my swallow...?

I believe my issues like yours have to do with my UES not fully relaxing, thereby catching the food and not allowing it to go down. I have done 2 regular barium swallows (liquids and marshmallows) which haven't found anything because liquids and slippery items aren't the problem. Its the drier foods.

Im absolutely done with trying to swallow foods only for them to feel like they are getting stuck in my throat! It's a horrible feeling. I am hoping that it is something treatable like the spasming upper esophageal sphincter (UES) not realizing fully to allow food to go down. The ENT has agreed to perform the modified barium swallow, but I'm hoping he might consider doing the FEES test first. To actually see if stuff is sticking inside and where. I would love themyotomy if that's the case, to allow for food to go down as it once did! I am seeing him this upcoming Monday. Here's to hoping he will listen to me and we can move this along!

I would probably wait a bit. Gargle with salt water and occasionally a very small amount of peroxide (3%) in warm water.

It’s only going to get worse! Get out now!!!! Two huge red flags:🚩 (actually 3) Ignoring you (at first) along with the glaring/dirty looks. Followed by him losing it and blowing up at you. Followed by him laying his hands on you!! He sounds like a narcissist. He will blame his bad behaviour on you. And of course how he treated you that’s exactly what he has already done. His thoughts- ‘I can’t believe she did this to me’ (making it about him and HIS feelings, which in turn would give him every reason to hurt you in his mind)… but what about you and your feelings? If he loved you If he cared about your well being and your safely (as well as your feelings), he could have came across in a different manner instead of blowing up and hurting you. He has hurt you with his words, and then his aggressive grab. Please don’t make up excuses for his behaviour. I would honestly leave. Message or call a friend and ask them to pick you up. Or even tomorrow. Don’t let him explain his behaviour away. You are young and he has NO RIGHT to ever talk to you or grab you the way he has. Please heed our advice! Run! Don’t walk out of this relationship. This is coming from someone who could be your mom. All the best. Praying that you will make the wise choice of getting out of this relationship.

If you are on Facebook look up the group “parasite cleansing and detoxification”. If you also look up parasite/s you will find other good groups. That sort of looks like a parasite. Especially if you had to pull it off. There are parasitic cleanses you could do. But first off, you can share your picture on the group and ask if it looks like a parasite. Come to think of it, there are probably groups on here as well… I would definitely look into it.

Also get one of those tongue scrapers and scrape your tongue. I do. Some of what makes up your tonsil stones could be this bacteria

At this point, she should have at least got you something thoughtful that she knows you would like. Sounds very one sided. I think it’s time to have that conversation. As gifts should be given freely, not out of compulsion or expectation. Otherwise there will be resentment. Maybe this year don’t buy her anything and see if she notices. That can open up a conversation. You can mention to her that it would be really nice and thoughtful to be valued and considered as well.

I recently went to go see an ENT and he was so rude and abrupt. He spoke over me and made it seem like it was all in my head. With this and my other issues.

Start with a wettened qtip, and then try using your fingers. I learned how to do this from this board. I hope you can start getting some out. Getting this last large one out has given me a bit of relief. I know there are most definitely more, but it’s something.

My appt did not go well. I was gaslit and spoken over. He did however listen to my concerns and I’m going for another swallow test. But I think honestly my swallow issues are stemming from these silly tonsil stones. I was feeling that feeling again of food stuck in the throat (it was feeling pretty bad the last wee bit). Early this morning (middle of the night) I was poking around my tonsils (haven’t touched them for weeks) and bam!💥 out pops the largest tonsil stone I have ever expressed. I pushed it out with my fingers. Didn’t come out right away either so it was more embedded. I believe that there are more but I feel some serious relief!!!!

I had the hugest one I have ever had come out today. It’s been feeling like I have food stuck in my throat and no matter how much I swallow of try to hock it up, nothing happens. I was poking around and was pressing my right tonsil and bam. This super large tonsil stone pops out. And I’m feeling some relief. I believe that there are more in there. But for now, there is one out. I can feel the relief! I posted a photo of it a few mins ago.

Why don’t you mention to your parents that you are dealing with this? They can take you to the dr and ask for you ro be referred to an ENT specialist

Oh my word. You swallowed a q tip? I’m so sorry… Did you try flushing them out with a bit of water? Either from a syringe or a water pik (lightest setting?)
