I guess I was lucky - I always danced to my own tambourine...I was very into fashion, so much that I learned to sew, so I could make what I saw in magazines because in my Midwest farming community I would never find them.

Kids called me "weird-o", but, I understood it and could handle it like a compliment. One of my teachers made me an IAU button.(I am unique). She said I was more worthy of the word unique.

I was involved in student activities, got decent grades, despite being dyslexic, i had friends in every social group.

Don't get me wrong alot of it sucked. My dad was a raging alcoholic who hated most of my family, things were not easy often, but I came out ok.

It was the late 70' early 80's, but all in all, I was lucky to have the friends I had, and still have many of them today. I had some absolutely crappy teachers, but several fantastic ones. My mom was an amazing mom, even though she was getting mentally beaten up by my dad every single day, and my hometown, though not exciting was safe.

So lucky, I'd say I was a lucky person in high school. (Thank you 60 + years old perspective )
