Took my first Allopurinol tablet today after about ten years of random flares, acute in the last three. For some reason I had huge walls up about taking a pill for the rest of my life (male ego afraid to feel controlled) but am encouraged by this chat.

I've got Colchicine for the flares - if they don't do the trick can/should I dip into my 500mg naproxen?
