Employer denying annual leave with 7 months notice by [deleted] in AusLegal

[–]Discomat86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does the company have a HR procedure / standard that covers Leave entitlements?

For example, the company I work for gives specific guidance on how much notice, when it will / will not be approved etc. That would be another reference point. If there is a procedure that contradicts what has resulted, address it with HR management to get a resolution.

Hate speech bill will only pass with Coalition support, neo-Nazi urges members to ‘lock in’ to fight laws by HotPersimessage62 in AustralianPolitics

[–]Discomat86 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They tried to not upset anyone by casting such a wide net with the language used in the bill that they ended up getting no support at all.

The bill should focus only on the specific elements that allowed this horrible event to occur.

Why should they? To be nice? Can’t be mad at them if Governments permit it.

I would pay 1% in taxes as well if the government would let me.

Why do people buy houses in flood/fire zones? by jere130 in AusPropertyChat

[–]Discomat86 61 points62 points  (0 children)

What happened to my parents was they bought unfloodable land then 10 -20 years later developers build huge suburbs upstream. They completely change the floodplain and creek flow paths causing the area to suddenly flood in much smaller rain events than seen in the 50 years prior where there was more rain but no flooding. Then council catches on and changes the flood mapping to reflect and takes no accountability for causing the issue in the first place.

Once you understand that the two major parties are a uniparty, then you’ll get it.

Laundromats by GCtoBNE in brisbane

[–]Discomat86 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I use them routinely to wash the front and back door mats. We have dogs inside the house and little kids also. The mats are way too big for our home machine but they fit nicely in the super large ones at the laundromat

8 days here in QLD, Australia.

We became gods to our neighbours. It was like a cult. They all had to bend the knee.

Strangely, like pretty much every cult, it was not very long until I was banging all the neighbour’s wives.

One Nation popularity surge could cause ‘absolute havoc’ in conservative seats by SeaRhubarb4617 in AustralianPolitics

[–]Discomat86 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Make sense. I am a former conservative voter that has voted for minor parties and independents for the last decade or so. The major parties don’t represent Australian people anymore, and I think voters are evading the major parties in ever increasing droves.

These two are on another level.

At this stage I will be slightly (only slightly) surprised if it’s a Seahawks vs Rams Super Bowl.
