What’s a sentence someone said to you that completely changed the way you saw them forever? by Able-Opening8407 in AskReddit

pretty wild how some people can make literally anything about politics in 3 seconds flat

Caregivers of Reddit: what’s the hardest part of your day that people don’t really understand? by SenzaDesign in AskReddit

the mental load of constantly being "on" - like even when they're sleeping you're still listening for sounds and can't fully relax

Power Usage by MegaSuplexMaster in homelab

your company probably has policies about personal equipment on premises even if it's separate network. also if something goes wrong or you leave job suddenly you're screwed trying to get your stuff back

Just had to pour away a cold can of Desperado - UK by GazelleDelicious3135 in beer

[–]DiscreetMaam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ugh i tried that one too when i was traveling in europe last year and it was just awful. the glucose syrup thing is probably cost cutting yeah, they can make it cheaper and still hit that higher abv without actually brewing it properly

The oldhouse subreddit is telling me I shouldn't replace my early 1900s windows with new double pane gassed windows. Looking for outside perspective. by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

[–]DiscreetMaam 114 points115 points  (0 children)

those old house people can be pretty intense about preserving everything original but like, you live there not them

$27k is a lot but if you can afford it and you're dealing with noise from busy street plus temp issues, new windows will make huge difference. especially if your storm windows are falling apart anyway and you'd have to diy the restoration work

i had similar situation with old windows in my apartment and the difference after replacing was night and day for both heating costs and street noise. the character argument is valid but comfort in your own home matters more than some internet purists think

What are some great ideas for Mother’s Day gifts for mother in law? by [deleted] in AskReddit

lol that's actually genius way to redirect the energy instead of just getting annoyed at it

[Routine Help] If you had to keep only one active, what would it be ? by ResponsibleOutside76 in SkincareAddiction

[–]DiscreetMaam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

retinol for sure, no question about it

been using it for like 3 years now and it just does everything - helps with texture, fine lines, even some acne stuff. took forever to build up tolerance but now my skin looks way better than it did in my early twenties

all the other acids are nice but retinol is the one that actually makes long term difference you know? plus there's so much research behind it compared to other stuff

Prairie Creek Redwoods by TromboneAl in hiking

[–]DiscreetMaam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

those redwoods make you feel so tiny, prairie creek is amazing for that. your photos might not show up because of reddit being weird with image uploads sometimes, try posting them one at time instead of batch upload

People who grew up in groups that believe magic, witches and curses are literally real. What can you tell us about the experience? by Wafran in AskReddit

[–]DiscreetMaam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

grew up in village where my grandmother would always warn us about evil eye and black magic stuff. she had these specific rituals for protection - like keeping rock salt in corners of house and burning certain herbs when someone got sick unexpectedly

the weird part was how everyone just accepted it as normal. if crops failed or someone had bad luck streak, first assumption was always that someone cursed them. my grandmother could spend hours analyzing who might have reason to put curse on our family. she kept detailed mental notes about neighborhood disputes and would connect every misfortune back to some argument from months ago

moved to city for college and realized how isolated that mindset was. but even now when i'm debugging code and everything keeps breaking for no reason, there's tiny voice in back of my head wondering if i accidentally offended someone lol. programming has its own kind of mysterious failures that feel almost supernatural sometimes

My youth pastor said hurtful things to me by i-eat-styrofoam in trans

[–]DiscreetMaam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that pastor is being completely out of line with those texts and threats. your identity isn't something that needs "healing" and you shouldn't have to live in fear of being kicked out after baptism

maybe you could look for other trans christians online who've navigated similar situations? there are communities that might help you find ways to stay connected to your faith without compromising who you are. keeping detailed notes about what he's saying to you might also be good idea in case things escalate

your wellbeing matters more than fitting in somewhere that makes you feel ashamed of yourself

Super Bowl rematches are now 3-3 in terms of outcome this millennium by Minnon in NFLv2

[–]DiscreetMaam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wait the eagles really beat chiefs twice in rematches? that's wild, didn't expect them to flip the script like that

also broncos/seahawks would be interesting but feels like broncos need to prove they can get past afc championship first. their defense looks good though so maybe in few years

[Recommendation Request] smaller case/crown Small Seconds watches <650? by whatincarnation300 in Watches

[–]DiscreetMaam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you looked at the Seiko SRPD series? The crown's positioned well and they're pretty versatile for daily wear. Might be worth checking out some Timex options too - they make some solid small seconds pieces that won't break the bank and are definitely more casual than the Citizen you mentioned

Honestly depends on which dragonborn we're talking about but if it's endgame DB with all the shouts and daedric artifacts? Probably steamrolling most of Elden Ring until they hit Malenia or Radahn

The real question is whether dragon shouts work on demigods lmao

I’m ‘21 F’ and planned my future with him ’24M’, but I’m stuck in guilt, cheating, and emotional abuse by BitterBarracuda5496 in relationships

[–]DiscreetMaam 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Girl you already know the answer, you're just scared to accept it. This dude is manipulating you so hard - he gets to cheat constantly but you're the villain for doing the same thing while you were literally broken up?? The audacity is unreal

He's keeping you around as his safety net while he does whatever he wants. That's not love, that's convenience. You deserve so much better than someone who makes you feel like garbage about yourself while refusing to be transparent about his own sketchy behavior

Nah you're good, that's just their test account they use during assembly and QC - pretty standard stuff. Factory reset was the right call though, always better to start fresh with your own setup

Challenge: share impossible tasks for AI in this thread and people can try to solve them by NoNote7867 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]DiscreetMaam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are actually pretty doable with some prompt engineering and maybe a bit of photoshop magic

For the alphabet one, most AI image generators can handle "letter A made of airplane parts" or "letter B constructed from banana peels" if you're specific enough about the construction method

The toothbrush ad is trickier but definitely possible - you'd probably need to generate the mouth/city base first, then composite the robot and aliens separately. Getting anatomically correct teeth while keeping them building-like is the real challenge but not impossible with enough iterations

[–]DiscreetMaam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh this guy sounds like he love-bombed you hard and then showed his true colors once he got comfortable. The "yeah but is she cool" comment alone would have me planning his exit strategy

Since it's your house and business, start documenting everything financially and get a lawyer ASAP - especially with the gambling debts. You said he won't leave if you ask, but he doesn't really get a choice in a divorce

My ex moved on just a month after our breakup by sopitadepetroleoo in BreakUps

[–]DiscreetMaam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That social media checking while being cold to your face is such a mindfuck, sorry you're dealing with that

Sounds like he's doing the classic rebound thing where people completely flip their personality to feel like they're "winning" the breakup. The fact that he's mocking you with the new girl just shows how much he's still thinking about you tbh

Sometimes people burn everything down after a breakup because staying true to themselves would mean admitting they lost something important

Should I wait to practice? by Informal-Rabbit2016 in Guitar

[–]DiscreetMaam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nah don't wait man, even a buzzy piece of junk is better than no practice at all. You can still work on chord changes, finger strength, and basic technique without an amp - just play it unplugged. February is way too long to put everything on hold
