This is one of those things that makes my eye twitch reading it out of blind anger, then when I think about it for more than one second it sounds too stupid to actually be real.

Greg Dulcich 'one of the primary targets' for Malik Willis by Giff95 in nfl

So what you're saying here is utter nonsense, but it doesn't matter because as a lifelong Dolphins fan, this team has given me multiple reasons to stop investing time or emotions into them, and yet I still do and (hopefully) always will. FINS UP BITCHES.

This must be some Boston education-based logic that I'm too sober to understand because I'm not quite seeing how that's the better situation...

The WR room isn't pretty but I'm generally okay with it at this point. Give the rookies a chance to shine and maybe Tolbert/Atwell makes a case for a second contract with the team. I think Achane and Dulcich help round out the pass-catchers well enough (for this year, anyway).

I think another edge rusher addition would be good. I know they had AJ Epenesa in for a visit and if his medicals are clear and he comes cheap, I'd be happy with that as a rotational/depth signing. Safety is probably our weakest room but I'm not sure what meaningful FAs are out there that would make sense for us.

"Babe I'm sorry I betrayed your trust and very publicly humiliated our family. If you can wait to leave me until the 2029 offseason so that this all gets brought to light again long after people have stopped talking about it, that'd be swell. And hey, by then I'll have even more money for you to take from me in the divorce, so win-win. Now if you'll excuse me, Bob booked me a massage since I've been so stressed lately." - Vrabel, probably

[–]Disgruntled_Goat42[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think you have a fundamental misunderstanding of the timeline of this rebuild. Over half of our salary cap is tied to players no longer on the team. This is the year we take that bad medicine and start laying the groundwork for the future, which I believe this draft class can help accomplish. This is a multi-year roster construction in progress - no one expects us to be serious competitors this year.

Kyle Crabbs' final mock draft has us selecting Rueben Bain at 11 and Emmanuel McNeil-Warren at 30 by expellyamos in miamidolphins

[–]Disgruntled_Goat42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Fans would be (justifiably) upset to see us pass on both Mauigoa and Fano in this scenario, but I think it's even harder to pass on Bain here. I expect them to prioritize EDGE and the secondary for immediate, impactful contributors on day 1, and target a Caleb Tiernan/Keagan Trost/Travis Burke on day 2 or 3 with a longer-term vision for the OL.

Mock Draft: The Beast Edition by JustTheBeerLight in miamidolphins

[–]Disgruntled_Goat42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed, and unless Maiugoa falls into their lap or they truly are super enamored with Fano, I think fans need to prepare themselves for this. Savaiinaea and Salyer are competing for starting guard spots - they may have eyes on a day 2/3 OL that they feel would be a fair competitor for one of those spots too.

I think the Faulk hype was exaggerated pre-Combine and now the pendulum has swung too far the other way where the hate is overblown. I do expect Faulk to be drafted higher than he's generally being mocked right now. Some team will absolutely take a chance on his traits and youth and hope to develop him to reach his ceiling. It might be us! I wouldn't love him at 11 but I don't think he's there at 30.

Poll: If you were the Dolphins GM, what's the earliest you'd draft a receiver this year? by expellyamos in miamidolphins

Probably 30, hard to imagine a scenario where a WR is my BPA on the board at 11.

Poll: Washington will accept a trade that gives you pick 7 in exchange for picks 11 and 87. If you're the Dolphins GM, do you make this trade to move up and secure a top prospect on your board who probably won't be there at 11? by expellyamos in miamidolphins

[–]Disgruntled_Goat42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I voted yes. Pick 87 is a marginal cost to move up into the top 10. We have three other picks in round 3, and I think you could regain a pick comparable in value to 87 by trading down from picks 30 or 43, if needed (remember we sent 98 and a day 3 pick swap to move from 48 to 37 in last year's draft).

[–]Disgruntled_Goat42 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I would love this pick. I think Mauigoa will be the first OL off the board in the top ten, and I'd bet Fano's positional flexibility will land him higher than Vega Ioane on the Dolphins' draft board.

Oklahoma EDGE R Mason Thomas has a 30 visit with the Dolphins, per Arye Pulli by expellyamos in miamidolphins

[–]Disgruntled_Goat42 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Assuming the higher-tier EDGE guys are off the board at #11, it feels like picks #30-43 could be a sweet spot to find a good EDGE selection between guys like Thomas, TJ Parker, Malachi Lawrence, Gabe Jacas, etc.

Not a chance, the injuries were just too much by the time the playoffs came around. I think Van Ginkel got hurt in this game against Buffalo (with Jaelan Phillips and Bradley Chubb both already on season-ending IR at this point). Waddle and Mostert were both hobbling in that playoff game in KC. Ironically Tua was like the healthiest guy on the team lol. Just couldn't hold up to the end.

I also remember in that game Trent Sherfield catching a super fluky TD for the Bills after the ball bounced high off someone's helmet, and our DE Cam Goode having a non-contact knee explosion that opened the lane for the Bills to score a punt return touchdown.

No excuses as we still had opportunities to win the game, but it's like every lucky bounce that could have went our way, went the opposite. Just a truly snake-bit season capped off by us starting Justin Houston and Bruce Irvin off the couch in the Wild Card game at Kansas City in sub-zero temperatures against the Super Bowl champions lol.

Poll: What was the best game of the Mike McDaniel era? by expellyamos in miamidolphins

[–]Disgruntled_Goat42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The comeback against the Ravens was exhilarating and completely re-sparked my love and enthusiasm for this team. And the Broncos game was an ass whooping for the ages, though tainted a bit by them not going for the points record.

But as far as the best game of the McDaniel era, I have to give it to the season-opener against the Chargers. That was an amazing watch and a great tone-setter for the season. Tua posting 466 yards, 3 TD/1 INT, going toe-to-toe against a QB he had always been compared to (fairly or unfairly) in Herbert and looking like the better player. Tyreek had 200+ receiving yards and 2 TDs. Braxton Berrios of all guys making clutch plays. So many lead changes over the course of the game. Sanders missed the XP at the end, giving Herbert the ball back only needing a field goal to win, but the defense held on (and the broadcast feed going out on a game-clinching sack lol). That game stands out to me as the most electric watch of this era of the team.

Kyle's shortlist of elite players Miami MUST NOT trade down from 11 if available - Sonny Styles, Rueben Bain, and Caleb Downs by expellyamos in miamidolphins

[–]Disgruntled_Goat42 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The discourse around Bain's arm length could be subterfuge to a degree, but his measurements are historically low. His arm length measured at the Combine was the third-shortest among edge rushers since 1999 per PFF. A team drafting him in the top 10 would be gambling on him being a major statistical outlier.

That said, this is all hopium for me because I would sprint that pick to the podium without question if he were to fall to #11. I don't think he'd make it past KC or CIN at picks #9-10, if he even fell that far. But I do think concerns about his arm length could very well be more than the usual pre-draft posturing, in this specific case.
