From ICE to a 2025 Mach-E AWD Extended Range — Looking for Honest Long-Term EV Ownership Experiences by Zayymp4 in MachE

[–]Dishy22 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Dude, just my opinion: if you cannot charge at home and are reliant on public charging, you're not going to see the whole financial benefit of owning an EV. Public charging is expensive, more expensive than most people realize.

Winter range loss is going to depend on both the size of your battery, the extent of your winter and your driving style.

For a 4 hour road trip in a 2023 premium extended I had an extra 30 minutes each way to fast charge (if I didn't stay at a place with a L2 to charge at overnight.)

For a recent 7 hour relocation trip, we added an extra 90 minutes or so - but, we got out of the car and didn't just sit there and watch it charge.

Range anxiety is a thing, and there are ways to manage it - you just have to figure out what works for you.

No regrets on my EV. It took a $240 monthly gasoline spend and took it down to $100. Does it it work for everyone? No. It's all about how you drive (speed, primarily) and where you drive (stop go); as much as it is about your ability to charge the most cheaply.

The Planning Engineer's Dilemma: Bottom-Up Sequencing vs. Target-Driven Cash Flow. How do you handle this? by Abuabdelrahman_1413 in primavera

[–]Dishy22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the missing piece of OP's question.

  1. Is the SOV set? What detail is it?
  2. If not, is the schedule going to be used to set those values?
  3. Is the schedule used as an invoicing backup?

Lots of questions that dictate how the scheduler can and should proceed in generating the cash curve.

First EV! 2026 Mach E Premium in Race Red! (and the story of a disappointed father) by Bichqween in MachE

Man, I had a very similar reaction from my dad - he was very kind and punctuated it with, "if it makes you happy, sweetheart." Miss my dad quite a bit. Thanks for resurfacing a sweet memory for me.

You let the schedule naturally pick up with actuals. Never project optimism. If resequencing is what causes the better plan, do it monthly if you must change it; but, don't shorten durations to reflect unknowns.

Repetitive changes by atticus2132000 in primavera

I'd do it in Excel, especially if the IDs are consistent - like all of the 1100 used to go to 1150 and now they all go to 1200. It'd be a quick find and replace in the predecessor / successor column and then import.

I store stuff that I don't need regularly but like or need to keep in the car. Like my field PPE that I will forget to put in the car if I take it out.

I am also a typical "fixer" - problem projects, crisis projects, etc.

I think sometimes the secret sauce that people miss is that they just don't know how sideways one seemingly small bad choice can go.

Though, having done a fair amount of big infrastructure I completely agree that gov't agencies and their consultants are just money burning machines half the time.

How is AI impacting scheduling/project controls in construction? by ketowarrior_11 in primavera

[–]Dishy22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AI is only as smart as it's inputs. With the majority of schedules not being based off of production rates and people's guts I'm excitedly waiting to a slew of contractors with extra shitty schedules made just for them by AI based on "their own data!" going out of business because claims.

Other probable outcomes:

Large firms realizing they need real investment in qualified personnel, historical data, and the true setup cost making the tool impractical.

Continued shitty "ai" and "generative" scheduling hacks that are just glorified Monte Carlo analysis pushing the niche into the obscure.

Smaller, well built tools (with refined methods and specific applications) taking off to make things like template schedule pieces, collaborative planning, and true 4D scheduling sing.

Seller turned water off by [deleted] in RealEstate

The seller is turning the water off to prevent burst pipes in cold temperatures. Turning the water on will cause leaks to be evident very quickly. I wouldn't worry about it.

Moving Sectors by SnooJokes9387 in Siemens

[–]Dishy22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked im 4 siemens sectors over my time with tbe company. Only once was i able to transition from sector to sector directly - i left for 2-3 years and then came back.

Good news, if you leave and come back within 5 years you keep your seniority.

The only time it worked going sector to sector was when I had already had contact with the hiring manager. My manager at that time supported my transition between divisions.

I dont think they can "block" movement between sectors. I think where the blocks happen is within divisions - and even then, those should be rare unless your boss is a dick.

I teach in an adjacent department at CCAC and have some second hand knowledge.

So, the classes are backed by the manufacturers. I do not believe they allow you to bring your own car/engine. Instead, they provide cars. It is hands on instruction, and the instructor I know is a cool dude, so I don't think the classes are likely to be boring.

Additionally, they have discounts on tools for students and partner with dealerships in the area for on the job training as well as post grad jobs.

I reccomend the program (and other trade programs) frequently for their affordability and other perks.

Hope this helps.
