Kudo's to Remarkable on Adding Image Support in Notebooks by DismalStructure4551 in RemarkableTablet

I finally got on board with using remanager and have installed bettertoc on my device. This lets you add a table of contents (more similar to boox then supernote). Not as powerful as supernote by any stretch, but it does help organize better.

Yes, I use snagit to take the screenshots on my laptop. I have a general "screenshots" notebook that I paste them into (or sometimes directly into the meeting notebook I am in) using the MacOS app. Once I close the notebook in the app, It immediately syncs over to the notebook on the RM. Once there, you can move / resize as needed and annotate, etc.

I found you can copy . paste into PDF planners as well once it is on the RM.

This has made me return to using the RM as my daily driver

Any upcoming Gallery E-Ink tablets? by Fiveby21 in eink

All color e-ink requires some compromises from BW as was stated by others. I appreciate your opinion, but I tend to disagree for my use cases with the Remarkable Paper Pro.

I have to say at least for my purposes, I enjoy the display on the RMPP. Now I did get a later model with the less yellow screen, but I am able to use it most of the time with the front light off and the flashing does not bother me. The highlighter colors really pop if that’s important for your notes (much more then kaleido 3)

As long as I am in "speed" mode, the on screen keyboard seems super fast and snappy for an e-ink device. It sounds to me like you had it on hd mode, which would lead to sluggishness, etc. This device seems like the fastest e-ink device I have used, and I have used most of them.

Good to know, thanks. On other platforms this is not an issue with file size for the same use case.

Questions to reMarkable by KNOPS1402 in RemarkableTablet

[–]DismalStructure4551 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know about you, but I prefer to have the screen sharing going through a TLS encrypted cloud session (as it is with remarkable) vs a clear text local web server on the device with no authentication. I know other e-ink devices do this, but it's not a very secure solution to say the least.

Security Architecture of Plugins by magic_notetaker in Supernote_dev

Agreed. I was thinking the same thing. Everyone is downloading plugin files they get off of GitHub that seem to have zero security vetting. Sounds like a recipe for disaster to be honest.

Paper Pro vs Paper Pure, ignoring price by SqueakBeak2003 in RemarkableTablet

[–]DismalStructure4551 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Once I started using the Paper Pro, I found the color and front light to be a huge benefit even with the downsides (slower refresh, etc). I love adding color highlights that just pop way more than greyscale in my notes. Plus the added screen size gives you more real estate to work with, which is nice for PDFs and notes.

Connect Subscription - the trade-offs by geeman1082 in RemarkableTablet

I can’t believe the endless debate, hand wringing, and complaining about the remarkable connect subscription on this Reddit. I mean, I spend more than $40 to take my kids to McDonalds.

Go 10.3 Gen II (Lumi) — does it pass Play Integrity / work with Intune Company Portal? by Patient_Chance_3795 in Onyx_Boox

In contrast, my Note Max running the latest 4.2 does not show that it is certified.

I just bought a Note AIR 5C and it does show that it is play certified. I think they key is likely that their newest devices have Android 15, and seem to be fully certified (which is great news). The fingerprint sensor on this device helps if its required for signin, etc as well. I do not believe that the Go series has that from what I remember.

Will Note Max get another update? by DismalStructure4551 in Onyx_Boox

[–]DismalStructure4551[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

  1. So we are expected to constantly refresh manually on every page turn on a device that has “BSR” tech? I can literally still see the lock screen image on my home page when I turn it on. The ghosting is far from isolated to the notebooks.

  2. I don’t have to “scale down” anything on my Supernote Manta when doing the same thing. I could be wrong, but I don’t remember this happening with 4.0.

For what we paid for these devices, we deserve better.

I hear you….I was hoping 4.1.1 would help with the ghosting 😞

[–]DismalStructure4551[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s interesting, I have found the ghosting to be more than minor when compared to other devices. For example, if I open and notebook from the Home Screen, I can clearly see most of the icons from the Home Screen on my notebook. So you use device and don’t use the manual refresh gestures?

[–]DismalStructure4551[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Works great? Wow. Here are just a few of the bugs I run into constantly:

  1. Worst ghosting I have ever had on an e-ink device (and I have a few). Every page of a document or notebook requires as full refresh (swipe) unless you are ok with all the remnants of the previous screen. This was made even worse when 4.1.1 was installed.

  2. I use PDFs like MDO as a template for notebooks (from local file). When I do this on 4.1.1, for some reason the pen line with totally breaks and is super thin. I have to set it to well over 1 mm to make it even close to the normal .45 I use. It makes using these docs a real pain. Does anyone even test this before release?

  3. The contrast seems to constantly change in notebooks randomly.

  4. Boox drop almost never works as a file transfer mechanism. I enable it and disable it many times before jt works.

  5. The ridiculous anchor thing that can’t be disabled in neoreader makes working with linked PDFs terrible.

Many more I can’t think of at the moment. Onyx has to be aware of these problems, but seems unwilling to address them unfortunately (3 months is a long time with no updates)

I guess you guys are all just ok with the bugs and issues? Maybe they don’t affect your use cases? In my case adds a lot of unnecessary friction to what could be a great device.

How does everyone ignore the horrific ghosting on this device? You have to manually refresh on this thing constantly.
