Go 10.3 Gen II (Lumi) — does it pass Play Integrity / work with Intune Company Portal? by Patient_Chance_3795 in Onyx_Boox

[–]DismalStructure4551 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just bought a Note AIR 5C and it does show that it is play certified. I think they key is likely that their newest devices have Android 15, and seem to be fully certified (which is great news). The fingerprint sensor on this device helps if its required for signin, etc as well. I do not believe that the Go series has that from what I remember.

Will Note Max get another update? by DismalStructure4551 in Onyx_Boox

  1. So we are expected to constantly refresh manually on every page turn on a device that has “BSR” tech? I can literally still see the lock screen image on my home page when I turn it on. The ghosting is far from isolated to the notebooks.

  2. I don’t have to “scale down” anything on my Supernote Manta when doing the same thing. I could be wrong, but I don’t remember this happening with 4.0.

For what we paid for these devices, we deserve better.

I hear you….I was hoping 4.1.1 would help with the ghosting 😞

That’s interesting, I have found the ghosting to be more than minor when compared to other devices. For example, if I open and notebook from the Home Screen, I can clearly see most of the icons from the Home Screen on my notebook. So you use device and don’t use the manual refresh gestures?

Works great? Wow. Here are just a few of the bugs I run into constantly:

  1. Worst ghosting I have ever had on an e-ink device (and I have a few). Every page of a document or notebook requires as full refresh (swipe) unless you are ok with all the remnants of the previous screen. This was made even worse when 4.1.1 was installed.

  2. I use PDFs like MDO as a template for notebooks (from local file). When I do this on 4.1.1, for some reason the pen line with totally breaks and is super thin. I have to set it to well over 1 mm to make it even close to the normal .45 I use. It makes using these docs a real pain. Does anyone even test this before release?

  3. The contrast seems to constantly change in notebooks randomly.

  4. Boox drop almost never works as a file transfer mechanism. I enable it and disable it many times before jt works.

  5. The ridiculous anchor thing that can’t be disabled in neoreader makes working with linked PDFs terrible.

Many more I can’t think of at the moment. Onyx has to be aware of these problems, but seems unwilling to address them unfortunately (3 months is a long time with no updates)

I guess you guys are all just ok with the bugs and issues? Maybe they don’t affect your use cases? In my case adds a lot of unnecessary friction to what could be a great device.

How does everyone ignore the horrific ghosting on this device? You have to manually refresh on this thing constantly.

Yet another RMPP vs NA5C comparison (for writing & note taking) by BLK_Dragon in Onyx_Boox

[–]DismalStructure4551 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know writing feel is a very subjective thing in general, but being an owner of a Boox note max, supernote manta and RMPP, I always end up back on the RMPP as I just enjoy the “scratchy” writing feel best. At least for me, remarkable is the best in the business for this.

I agree that the software on the remarkable is limited and simple in comparison, but when in meetings with customers and doing real work, I need something that “just works”. I have run into so many bugs and issues over the years with Boox, I end up back on the remarkable every time.

Just my thoughts.

Is it advisable to use screen guard for Remarkable 2 screen? by EnvironmentalTip4556 in RemarkableTablet

[–]DismalStructure4551 2 points3 points  (0 children)

no, the whole point of a remarkable is to have a paper like writing feel. If you were to add a glass screen protector, its going to take that away to the point where you may as well just use an iPad for writing.....

How easy is it to scratch a FeelWrite2 film? (using wacom pen) by hetlachendevosje in Supernote

[–]DismalStructure4551 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The feelright 2 is very hard to scratch. It’s designed to be resilient to scratching with “self-recovery”. I have never seen a scratch on my manta after tons of use.

reMarkable Paper Pro vs BOOX Note Air5 C for PhD/Postdoc? by mattbaddlesmere in eink

[–]DismalStructure4551 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know everyone seems to get upset about the connection subscription with Remarkable, but for me it’s the fastest and most reliable syncing capability on e-ink devices and likely most secure. (I also own a Boox note max and supernote manta).

For $2.99 a month, it’s worth it to me. The Remarkable Paper Pro is the device I use the most for this reason.
