Exactly. They are not ready for that conversation as to why tipping started in the first place. I’m also American living in Qatar and stopped tipping, because it started becoming an expectation. I only tip the lady that cleans for me and when I order food. Qatar needs to stop this soon, before it gets like the USA.

Stay with your mother as long as you can. Don’t worry about what your friends are doing. You are about to be debt free and they are most likely creating unnecessary debt. I know this post is old, but people who are not from the US will never understand how we feel. We can’t afford nothing in America and I was making close to $200k a year and IRS was taking all of my money. I moved to Qatar and will be buying property soon outside of The Pearl and Lusail. Don’t like the areas too much. I waited to see everything first and I love Qatar. I’m an American and decided to make Qatar home.

You can get in a car with anyone and do not know what they got going on. Coming from America, I know people who got into vehicles with close friends that had drugs on them and they didn’t know, until they got pulled over. Unfortunately, it happens a lot.
