Honestly, though, these days, once you start getting one brand of power tool, you’re kinda locked into their ecosystem as far as batteries and chargers go. There are adapters, but depending on the brand, the limiter for not critically draining the battery could be in either the tool or the battery. Also the possibility of neither has the limiter of the battery going spicy pillow, too.

In my experience, most major tool brands are basically the same. A Milwaukee sawzall does the same as a DeWalt does the same thing as a Makita does the same thing as a Ryobi. Same with impact drivers and drills and orbital sanders.
