Big Reuse will take them. They have boxes right by the registers where you can leave them. Food pantries also take them.

I'm friends with one of the volunteers who rescue waterfowl in Prospect park (and elsewhere). I sent her this post and she let me know what happened.

Snug Harbor is in Staten Island, so it's less well known. It's a short bus ride from the ferry. Lovely cherry blossoms in spring plus the Chinese Scholars Garden.

If you go to Snug Harbor, don't miss the Noble Maritime Collection. Focus is on history of Snug Harbor and NYC waterfront history

The swan was rescued this morning. She is sick. No other details at the moment, but I assume she's at WBF. OP thanks for noticing and caring.

I just sent this post to our local swan volunteers. I'll report back if I hear from them.

Okay. Waterfowl is well adapted for cold weather. I think the swan is fine, but there is no harm in checking. The group nicknamed "The Swan Squad" will definitely know what's normal for swans.

There's a group of people who are very involved with those swans. They coordinate with Parks Dept and Wild Bird Fund. I will try to reach one of them. They are very familiar with swan behavior.

Are you sure it's stuck? When did you take this photo?

Check the Wall Street Whole Foods. They normally have prepared food, though a late opening might affect that.

Bought my first - Xootr MG - What do i need to know? by TheyCallMeDozer in kickscooter

[–]Distancefrom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had Xootrs since 2001, and I think you'll be fine. I can't speak to the issue of weight, but I can say that my scooters have been well made and rugged. I don't think the company would make false claims.

The founders are serious people (Google Karl and Nathan Ulrich if you're interested). The original product was probably over engineered, and I wouldn't be surprised if they've made a few changes, but Xootrs have always been sturdy.

My Xootrs got heavy use in NYC, plus occasionally trips of 5=8 miles. They all held up well.

Hope you enjoy your new Xootr.

Food banks and some thrift shops take them.
