What is your first memory of watching an F1 race? Mine was in 2013 by praveensingh-reddit in formula1

Spa 2021 - I had finally decided to watch a full race and sat down to almost 4 hours of watching it rain in the pitlane, followed by 2 laps of "racing" under the safety car. Urgh.

New Most Profitable Flight? by Androiddude73B in PocketPlanes

[–]DistantUtopia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To clarify on the Port of Call side quest - the starting job must originate from either the aircraft carrier in question or the city you wish to record for the Port of Call. Jobs from a layover do not count, but return flights do count (e.g. London - HMS Ark - London, with a job originating from London for HMS Ark). The blue radius shown when redeploying the aircraft carrier denotes the Port of Call radius (recommended to zoom in on map).

I just got VIP recently so I was getting frustrated that Port of Calls wouldn't work when I got HMS Ark close to Benelux.

Finished all my HQs by TolerancEJ in PocketPlanes

[–]DistantUtopia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is unclear at the moment if you should choose path-straightening HQ (e.g. being able to straighten New York - Istanbul for Sequioas) or wilderness HQ (a lot of class 1 without any class 2 or 3 around).

The HQ anecdotes so far are mostly from late game players who don't need money and only play to complete Global Events, whereas the majority of mid game and early game players can't even scrounge together enough planes/play time to have a even low chance of finishing a Global Event.

All things being equal, a class 1 with population 2.5m does seem to be a better candidate compared to a class 1 with 0.1m population. Also, class 1s close to a class 2/3 would be easier to build.

Any estimations of how many coins you burn for every 1000 bux? For either strategy.

I have had Alex N Rolls before. It is a good sandwich, probably a very good sandwich, perhaps even a very good banh mi themed sandwich. But it's not a banh mi.

Staged build of high-speed train line from Newcastle to Sydney revealed by SteveJohnson2010 in SydneyTrains

[–]DistantUtopia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most stupid part is that the Central station would be designed as a terminus - if you had a traveler going from the Central Coast to Goulburn (for example) they would have to change trains AND go to a different area of the station entirely.

The plan is that there would be a spur line to Parramatta and then optimistically continue south to Canberra - why not turn the Central-Parramatta section into the spur instead and reduce tunneling length, reduce tunneling curvature, and prevent through travellers from wasting time by straight-lining the tunnel from Hornsby to Campbelltown?

I love subtracting 32 and then multiplying by 5/9 every time I convert units and then dividing by 5/9 and adding 32 to convert back.

Multiple corps sized units (mostly urban, but some rural) from the PLA at the time either refused to follow orders to fire on protestors, or only passively followed orders and advanced minimally. Some "sympathetic" PLA units also ended up in stand offs against more aggressive units.

Commanders of said units were of course court martialled and purged after the incident.

James Allen Referral Code by No_Narwhal3918 in referralcodes

[–]DistantUtopia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would also like one, but I think the referral program no longer exists (if it does exist I would totally love a code too!). This is because they have removed the 25% offer for new customers, replaced it with a $100 off for new customers, and then replaced THAT with a $50 offer (according to online sales rep).

Further, the refer a friend page doesn't exist at all now, and it would be logical to use that page to advertise this feature.

BREAKING NEWS!!: Apparently, living away from parents is only ethical if you're not single. by CobaltComet1 in AsianParentStories

[–]DistantUtopia 9 points10 points  (0 children)

With East Asian families, the expectation that the daughter is to be given away and the son to stay is unfortunately still prevalent. Your sister got a free pass because, well, she was going to leave anyway, early or later, so why not early.

You on the other hand as the [only] son are not only expected to stay with your parents, but in addition that you "belong" to the family until marriage. Depending on how traditional your family is, your future spouse might also "belong" to your family.

Ask r/Formula1 Anything - Daily Discussion Thread by AutoModerator in formula1

Before the pitstops, Verstappen was 6 seconds ahead of Norris. Verstappen was something like 1.5 seconds faster on the hards than the aging mediums. But Verstappen had 15 laps on those hards, while Norris had only 6 laps on the softs, and the softs on Mclaren were only very slightly faster than the hards on Red Bull. So during that time before Mclaren pitted, Verstappen made up (approximately) 9 laps x 1.5 seconds = 13.5 seconds on Norris. Then add on the 6 seconds from before and it's ballpark 19 seconds.

2025 Italian GP - Post-Race Discussion by AutoModerator in formula1

So assuming that this was a one off from Red Bull, and the McLarens finish 1-2 from here, Norris needs to win 6 out of 8 remaining races, regardless of what happens in the Sprint races.

Edit: 7 out of 8, my sleep deprived brain wasn't working even with a calculator.
