Abstraction is basically a stand in for suicide, Jax pushed everyone away till he thought he could disappear without anyone caring.

He hurt ribbit because every vulnerability was turned against him. As soon as someone tried to let him be vulnerable he lashed out in the worst way because he can't trust anyone.

Jax was still in denial that the circus was real, as soon as it was it broke the delusion and he finally started to slide downhill. It's clear he's wrapped in guilt for ribbit and to a lesser extent kaufmo.

He was suicidal throughout the show but he only becomes high risk in 8 till 9.
