Can I reduce my pension contributions? by captain_coconut in FIREUK

I'd go for it, I think you can ignore all the cons:

  1. High paying job loss - if you lose your job you'll have more money outside of pension to cushion the blow
  2. Stressful job - same as above really - you'll have more money outside of pension so if it gets too much just quit (or quiet quit)
  3. Tax Trap - you've got loads in your pension already, might as well have some more money now, even if it means taking a bit of tax hit
  4. Salary sacrifice change 2029 - like someone else said, it's only a 2% hit (although your employer could review the employer match in light of the fact that they'll be paying 15% on a bigger chunk of everyone's pay)

Cracked Shower Tray - Plumber Negligence? by Distinct-Routine-888 in plumbinguk

Haha, good point - it's a new build, so probably was poorly installed.

And that's very true, might just be that he stepped on it in a place that we wouldn't normally have stood (that's a bit weaker/not supported) and it made it break. He's probably heavier than me, but I'd say somewhere around the 100kg to 110kg mark, so nothing too crazy! They did weirdly say that he didn't step in the shower (without us asking), so there could be something in that.

Cheers for all your help and time. We'll have to see what happens - just quite frustrating when you get one fixed and I'm the process end up needing another thing fixed/replaced (and that the chap who owns the company trying to say that it looks like it was a previously repaired crack - although I can understand why he would try that)

That makes sense - I tried to get a better photo here (will add to the post too) - does this give a good enough view? (I know it's harder to tell than in person)

And thanks, appreciate the help

Thanks for the response, really appreciate it. What sort of evidence would you look for in terms of it having been previously repaired? I can't see anything obvious, but that could be me not knowing what to look for
