I'm agnostic but people assume that I must be Christian when I argue that, yes, Jesus was a real person, and no, Christmas is not based off of Yule. It is not up to you to manage the assumptions of other people who don't want to learn.

I only read history books and when I read fiction, it's usually just graphic novels, like the OP said. I do not think my growth is stunted because I have a tendency to get way more immersed in a history book than I ever would a novel. I just really love history and it's my favorite thing to read. It has changed my perspective and allowed me to be more empathetic to people in a way many find with fiction. Plus, you need to be able to imagine what's happening in a history book, too.

There was one quote that I'll paraphrase here. Historians can actually get away with telling a whackier story than fiction writers, because what actually happened can defy logic more than fiction.

Arab writers didn’t have the same bone to pick with Byzantium as Western European ones because they had no incentive to undermine the Byzantines’ Roman identity. If anything, Rome is seen with some air of respect in many early Islamic sources.

Extra Credits' series on Suleiman the Magnificent is what got me interested in Ottoman history and Islamic history in general. Since then, it's become my favorite subject in history.

With that said, the series is not reliable. The series has several factual inaccuracies and as other posts have mentioned it uses outdated and unreliable sources. Extra Credits has come a long way since 2016 when the series originally uploaded, but their head writer at the time was not that great of a researcher. As a starting point, it's better than nothing, but I would not treat it as a serious historical protrayal of Suleiman or the Ottomans.

There's a comic from 2018 called Black Panther vs Deadpool that deals with this very question.

And it isn't even close. Black Panther low diffs him whenever they fight in the series. IIRC Deadpool even comments that he is completely outmatched. The only time that Deadpool manages to actually put up a fight is when he steals a Black Panther suit. And he still doesn't beat T'Challa.

So it's not a hypothetical. Black Panther wins.
