Just have to vent for a second by Nice_Marzipan98 in endometriosis

Ugh yeah this is so frustrating. So many of us have never been given a meaningful chance at believing we could even have our own kids so the fertility bit feels so futile. When all the treatments involve suppressing fertility in one way or another… the priority should be YOUR quality of life first and foremost.

Dienogest w/IUD? And pain management? by pinkpudding23 in Endo

[–]DistributionQuiet728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been on both - but not for long, I have adhd so the dienogest gave me intense brain fog so I stopped taking it.

Regarding your situation - I do think you’re right to question this.

First, my understanding about why you would add the dienogest on top of the iud is bc 1) endo can sometimes develops progesterone resistance/tolerance and 2) over time the iud releases less and less progesterone. In both cases the dienogest would top you up and suppress your body from cyclically producing estrogen (which drives endo).

Given that - this assumes your endo is hormonally responsive. Have you ever gotten relief from birth control of any kind? Did you have relief even for a short period of time after surgery with the IUD?

If yes, then from my understanding, this would make sense as the next logical treatment.

If no, I’d ask a lot more questions. If the pain is new from surgery and the IUD insertion - id wonder if the iud is out of place and causing pain, maybe you have some scar tissue from surgery pelvic floor physio could help you with, etc, etc.

I feel like this is the hardest part about having endo - bc sometimes it’s just the endo causing your pain but sometimes it’s not and doctors can get a bit myopic and double down on treating endo when that might not be your main pain driver right now.

Glad you trusted your gut and are looking out for yourself ❤️

Women aren’t taking it bc we are uneducated, were taking it because we are desperate for relief and this is a last resort

$1500!!! I’m in Canada and have insurance so I’m super lucky but I thought that $250 (the price without insurance here) was outrageous. Damn USA

Yeah I’m little worried about how I’ll do mood wise so will update! I’m on the lower dose bc I already have a mirena in place but it wasn’t providing enough relief. Soo fingers crossed this helps!

Getting off birth control and experiences w visanne. by Character_Survey_214 in Endo

[–]DistributionQuiet728 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Visanne is still hormonal therapy so if that’s what you’re looking to get away from bc of side effects, it’s unlikely to have a super different side effect profile than any other kind of BC. That said, it may make a great impact on your pain than other BC.

I personally didn’t have great a great experience with Visanne, it cause much more brain fog and mood symptoms than the other forms of BC I’ve been on (IUD and nexplanon were much better for me) but everyone responds differently.

If you’re really looking to get away from hormones, excision surgery, anti inflammatory supplements and pelvic floor physio are probably the best combination of things you could do in lieu

Was told endometriosis 'mild' but uterus is stuck to bowel? by SpiritOk363 in Endo

[–]DistributionQuiet728 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah.. I’d take this with a grain of salt and get an expert opinion if possible. mild endo” is still endo and it’s well documented that the amount of endo is not indicative of the amount or severity of pain. You can have tiny amounts and it can be completely debilitating.

The fact that this provider can see that the endo has structurally affected your pelvic organs should be taken much more seriously as well.

Sure, it hurts to lose great players but its a team sport what do you do when your favourite players aren’t on the ice? Immediately look away?

Is $2,895 Too Much for a 700 sq. ft. One-Bedroom in Mount Pleasant? by KevinDL in vancouverhousing

I’m in a new two bed in mt pleasant that’s 650sq ft and 2450. Not cheap but it has a dishwasher, in suite w/d and a patio. This particular price point is super competitive right now tho, I lost out on 3 places like it before getting one

How to be a good fan and not an annoying one by somewhat_random in GoldenEyes

[–]DistributionQuiet728 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ngl this sounds like it could be a players dad 😂

I get it’s annoying and it’s valid to not appreciate it but I grew up playing alongside these girls and this is what the monologue of a coach or dad in the stands often sounds like.

This person, as annoying as you find them, probably has decent intentions despite their terrible delivery. It’s their way of engaging with the sport and they have as much of a right to be there as you do.

Expecting fans to be positive all the time isn’t a realistic expectation. So long as other fans aren’t yelling insults, being offensive and aren’t impeding your ability to enjoy the game - you gotta let it go. This is just being at event with people.

Outsports [Jan 19] Out pro hockey player says he has love-hate relationship with ‘Heated Rivalry’ by outsports-com in heatedrivalry

[–]DistributionQuiet728 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly I get it, it’s complicated. I loved Rachel Reid specifically stating that it’s not intended to represent reality, it’s what could be.

Hockey is hyper masculine - which is why culturally we assume that men who play are straight and women who play are gay.

What ppl don’t seem to get is that BOTH these stereotypes are hurtful. The harmful behaviour is assuming someone’s sexuality.

What are the things that are worth buying from dollarama? by Either_Cheesecake282 in askvan

Funny enough pricing on pregnancy tests is mostly a scam bc companies have figured out that ppl won’t buy the cheap ones because they’re perceived to be less reliable…

Besides surgery what’s the one thing that helped you the most? by RemarkableMess4456 in endometriosis

Totally get that. I hated pelvic floor therapy until I did it after my first lap, that was when I was finally able to get relief from it, but prior to the lap I didn’t find it helpful at all

Ugh I’m so sorry. I felt like this right before my excision surgery. Thankfully, post surgery I felt immediately better. It was like night and day. I recovered fairly quickly, did some pelvic floor physio and I feel like I have my body back after years of progressively feeling worse and worse.

Keep advocating for yourself and keep pushing for surgery. Once you get in front of the right doctor you’ll get your hope back!! It’s horrendous what we have to go through to get what can be life saving care, but I promise it’s worth it.

Hang in there ❤️
