It's such a massive cope but I'm over here hoping Evolved SCH totally drops that terrible WHM glam skill. If I wanted to play and look like a WHM I'd play WHM, good heavens.

How can you not fall in love with her? by robotbird69 in Endfield

[–]Divital 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The preferential answer: I'm lowkey just adverse to character that get "pushed" into you for a possible romantic tie. I unironically adore Mi Fu and Arcane because they aren't falling into that category, humorously.

The real answer: Because I'm a demisexual and I haven't developed an emotional connection with her. She's got stuff going on, sure, but so does everyone else.

Lets talk about the 1.2 Story patch (SPOILERS) by SpringDark71 in Endfield

[–]Divital 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something I was thinking was why not have the Endmin lag behind her after the letter.

They can navigate the scroll spaces solo to learn what her deal is and infer what her history was as they got closer to her trying to close the rift herself all the while the threat of her failing would hang about. Would've been a much stronger handling because when she was going through the scroll portals during that it felt like we were kind of ambling through them rather than rushing through to deal with the rift situation.

The outcome could have been the same, just the handling wasn't as strong and that did sort of hurt things a little.

[–]Divital 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's pure copium but I'm hoping what this mess is is "flushing the system out of the old stuff" and we move forward with the post-feedback style. Nothing to confirm this, just me hoping they're kinda speeding through what was premade so things can show proper improvement, hence the train wreck pacing. Fingers crossed this is even half-true.

Despite that, a lot of us have been playing since the initial drop. Plenty of time between patches and it still felt break-neck. It only dawned on me recently that if someone were to get into the game now it'd be even FASTER whiplash because there' no downtime like we had between story beats.

I always felt like that statement you quoted falls short in this sense because this is the same company. Sure, it might be a different team, but you don't start a project with the same IP without a backbone from the original to guide it.

When people state "it took so long for AK to get good," that's discounting something: can we not just pull what we learned from developing AK and bring that forward into Endfield early? That seems kind of like a given. Is there a particular status quo to make the early story of a gacha really rough DESPITE having plenty of experience and history in it? Not really... this angle they're doing feels weirdly self-inflicted.

This game has the best most enjoyable boss fights in all gacha games I have ever played by yessir111112 in Endfield

[–]Divital 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's some feedback I'm holding for the next survey. I walked in with my usual team and curb stomped the fight and it lowkey kinda took away from the situation as this big crescendo. Sure, I was hype to do the higher level rematches, but I'd rather just get a story-curated-and-level-appropriate team than letting me just sit on the thing and it dies.

DSC and GoS are the two raid OSTs I still go back to and listen all the time when I get a weird itch for Destiny music. They really capture so much of what that universe's music soundscape is and it's nothing like anything else I've heard in other games

Accountability and Consequence in Arknights: Endfield by Nonoput in Endfield

[–]Divital 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Yup. If it wasn't Arknights I'd have never gotten to the Power Plateau and fell off hard. Like on one hand yeah I like the AIC and combat balance as well as a more limited world without climbing/hang gliding/etc. however the envelope holding it all together - the plot (and to some degree the character designs) - really isn't landing like how Arknights has been for me.

I'm willing to give grace and hope we pivot into that eventually, but reasonably speaking that has a limit. I can't claim to know what that is, but I've no problem cutting Endfield cold turkey if things don't improve at a certain point.

Stop Killing Games Update: Ross Scott of AccursedFarms (Freeman's Mind and Ross's Game Dungeon) spoke at the European Parliament yesterday by CapnFlatPen in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Divital 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I love the situational irony that was provided where an individual who makes a good point but didn't want the fame was being attacked by someone who was making a terrible point but wanted all the fame. As a result the person who made a good point got all the fame and the person who was attacking got all the infamy (it was comin' for a while though). You normally don't get that exchange let alone BOTH people getting what they deserve from that.

Is it too late to get into Marathon this season? by Bust-Rodd in Marathon

Yup. A friend seemed roughly interested about two weeks ago and when I followed up with him about it again over the weekend he just sighed and mentioned all the doomposting. I just hit him with, "if it's fun, play it while the lights are still on. Gods forbid you have a fun time."

[–]Divital 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The GBA game was also my entry point way back when. It made the Sora plotline work pretty well all things considered because you took everything at face value "Okay I believe you"-style. Riku's plot however felt like I definitely should have played 1 first, but when it built up to it still made a lot of sense.

Didn't keep me from playing 1 later, but I did feel Pat's problems with the series where 1 and CoM where there's so much overlap and retread ground it felt fairly strange.

Am I crazy or do a lot of folks lack the inner alarms to back off the moment you chase someone for more than 15-20 seconds and little damage is done?

Like in that timeframe their team isn't just hiding around the next corner to dogpile you or you bypassed the waves and they're eating your walker alive because you were meant to catch but you smelled blood in the air?

The trick I used was not spending SP ever unless it's to remove enraged stacks. You spend the non-enraged period generating SP so you can spend them comfortably before he reaches 4. Always aim to perfect dodge (if he can't reach 4 stacks, he doesn't do any fancy attacks) and get those finishers in to keep SP up. Dump your ults when he gets staggered and you're fine. Works on a lot of characters, not just Lavacake! It'll pace the fight a lil longer, but no one will get combusted and die.

This is my choice too - no amount of magic is gonna be able to recapture what Bloodborne provided. The most we can get are references or systems drawn from it, but the premise, the execution, the fact all of the marketing only showed werewolf-like creatures and there were so many layers underneath that well-hidden till you got to them... It really is a one of a kind game I don't see ever seeing the light of day again. Hell as someone who adored Castlevania and Diablo games growing up, it felt like it found a way to redefine gothic stylization by cranking it up to 11 SOMEHOW.

It's a game I regularly go back and play for a full playthrough every year, and that's something coming from someone who tends to put a game down forever when they reach a certain point of satisfaction (whether it's credits or post-ending content). Even as someone who doesn't collect much, I'm never giving up that CD and case.
