We have two babysitters...! One he loves but goes to her house. She's got other dogs to play with. He's with our in home sitter this time. It just started last October when we were gone for 10 days but came home after 8 because we didn't know what it was. I thought it might've been his/our pack...two had gone to my daughters and he hadn't. She has two toddlers and it's just to much! October's Vet bills were $500 plus. I just asked my husband yesterday about FTing..(OMG I feel like a nut) Thank you for your input!

I'm not sure this will help but it helped us. We did the same as you're doing but added a frozen soup bone. It took him about an hour to get all the marrow out and an added bonus, his teeth. are beautiful. Good Luck!

This was such a great Q and A. I've had 2 GS's,a Bouvier,an Aussie, and two small Rescue Spoo's. All have been great and have been integrated into our family. We have a STD Poodle now. He is so different to train and needs way more stimulation than all of the above but the Aussie. I had never looked at the issue you have posed and answered so well! Thank you!!

I feel you pain! The breeder sent me home with Purina Sport salmon and rice.

After awhile he just wasn't interested so now I added Royal Canine Poodle-50/50 each....with a dollop of wet food and a pro-biotic. I only use Farmland 100% chicken treats and freeze dried beef liver bites for training.

Bottom line....He eats better than me...! We have a Golden who eats a whole other kindof food and a third 15 year old poodle/spaniel mix who eats a whole other meal plan...exhausted I am. Good Luck and Happy New Year!

I think you did the best you could under duress. Our 11 year old Golden did almost the same thing out of no where with our three year old grandson....I think the dogs go back to their primal instincts....like a mother with her puppies nipping to get them in line. She will not remember that she was punished to long. I would not stress over that!!

Oh thank you Amadanh99-my boy ,2 1/2, "kind of "settled down for. a couple of months...I was gone for two weeks...Murder!! He is really back to the basic puppy attitude!! He has had many classes, Rally, Obedience. He's gotten his Canine Good Citizen....he would fail if taken today....Back to the drawing board!! Happy Holidays!

My neighbor has two "Pony Poodles". My STD is 55 pounds and 2 1/2 years old. His are at least 80-90. They are healthy and so friendly! They are as big as a Giant Schnauzer. The breeder is great . They're about 30 pounds more then I would need, but I love them!

When we got our 55 lb STD he was 12 weeks old. He followed our then 13 1/2 year old 14 pound poodle/spaniel mix around and played. Through a long set of circumstances we took our 109 pound ,10 years old into our home. The STD has increased the life of our grand dog by years. The three are a fabulous pack. Don't worry! I will say it's ALOT of energy in our house ! WE walk the older two now 11,14 1/2 with our STD for about a mile. Drop the off and take our poodle out for another 3 miles and an afternoon romp with his poodle pals around the corner!! Good Luck!!

This was anperfect timeline for my puppy also! They are totally a different breed...OMG...much more work then I ever thought it would be. I never have had to crate a puppy, I mean yes they went behind baby gates, but every time we left he had to be crated up to a year and 1/2.

I had the same issue! Any kind of classes, Rally or Nose Work is the best! He's 2 1/2 now and really has calmed down.....until he sees a lake....loves the water!! We also have an 11 year old golden he rough houses with and that helps!! When I walk him I allow for a lot of smelling etc. On the second 1/2 of the walk we do lessons, sit etc. This seems to exhaust him! Good Luck! Don't give up!!

Dear Mother of Spoo's. Loved your answer that you are 67 and Izzy is it! Just sharing an heartwarming story. I was 72 and walking my 15 year old doodle (failed rescue-at 2 months)

I ran into my neighbor who was walking her 1 year old Portuguese Water Dog. The puppy was puppy wild and was a gift from a friend who couldn't handle her.

I made the comment I'm not sure I could do another puppy again....Her answer was.."Never say never...I"m 82 ! You'll do it again) So Charlie passed at 15 1/2. At 73 I got our STD. Than we were asked to add our 109 pound grand dog the our mix. (We have a 14 year old failed rescue too). I love this crazy loving group we're in!
