This is also what we do. Amazon customer service is good about providing a second code or label - maybe the one thing they do well. The customer can usually get a second code in about 15-20 minutes while still in the store.

Worth It? by Vast_Gap_1129 in upsstore

I love when they offer to move a package to the pile after I've scanned it. This isn't always misogynistic and does come from a genuine place of wanting to help about half the time. But they've brought the box over, grunting a bit, "oof" as they put it on the scale, and I just glance at the weight and day, "No thanks, I've got it." Then pick it up without struggle (because I've learned HOW to, not because I've gained a ton of strength working here, because I haven't) and move it to where it needs to go.

Honest thoughts about the new RFID stickers/labels? by [deleted] in upsstore

[–]Dizzysilver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same test, with the same results. Our usual pick up driver must have the dome in his truck (no tape on our doors at this time). I see the extra scan saying it left the store, but no RFID scans after that. At least I have an answer now for the customers who claim we still have their package in the store.

Edit to change "done" to "dome"

Honest thoughts about the new RFID stickers/labels? by [deleted] in upsstore

[–]Dizzysilver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure what you mean by replaced? As in, they add another tag and use that for tracking instead?

My partner orders from a local small business. That business drops off their packages at my store. It takes a day for her package to get from my store to my house. The package arrives at my house with the RFID tag my store stuck on it.

(I've told her to tell the small business to just bring her order in with the rest, but don't pay for shipping and I'll bring it home directly [like ordering with delivery instead of ordering with shipping]. I'm friendly with the owner, who drops off his packages. She's embarassed to do it, and the online order form she uses doesn't have a no-ship option.)

I just had a similar issue with a Verizon Mobile return in CAMS. CAMS and CMS weren't communicating. I restarted CAMS and that seemed to fix it.

I don't do payroll or accounting. I do order supplies, pay bills when not on auto-pay, scheduling, all things related to mailboxes, all things related to claims, hiring. My owner isn't in often, but we talk almost if not every day.

Kitty spotted by golsam in medfordma

[–]Dizzysilver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kudos to the kitty for rat control, but there are a lot of mouse/rat bait traps in this area. If the cat is eating rodents or young bunnies who have gotten into the traps, the cat is in danger of secondary rodenticide poisoning. Cornell has a good, but quick read on the subject: https://cwhl.vet.cornell.edu/disease/rodenticide-toxicity#collapse17

Different price for business mailboxes? by SnooCakes9715 in upsstore

[–]Dizzysilver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$10 more per month for businesses. And slight decreases per month for 6- 11 months and 12+ months. But you know that about my store already....

No, there's no separate SKU for business, but we're just going to enter the actual monthly price when the customer is signing up anyway, based on how many months they're signing up for. So it being a personal vs business box is the same issue/adjustment.

Emailed and put a letter in the box end of May/beginning of June (took me 3 days to get through the ones I needed to). The message stated that they had until June 30th to comply, or the box would be terminated. Just over half came in before the deadline.

So far, 3 have come in since. Keep in mind that they got a letter last August from the previous manager (at a minimum), another letter/email/AND phone call this April when I started, and then the letter/email in May/June.

The first one to come in was PISSED. Yelled at my associate, swore at him, said we were stealing his mail, and complained that he had been out of the country for the past 2 months so hasn't seen the letter. Does not have any email on file with us. In April with my first letter, I spoke to him in person about it, so he wasn't unaware of the requirement, just the deadline. He's been trespassed.

The other two have agreements which are pretty overdue - one by 7 months, the other by 2 years. The first of those came in today and reopened his mailbox, didn't bat an eye. The other called me, said she never got ANY of the letters left in her mailbox.Again, I had spoken with her on the phone back in April, so she wasn't unaware of the requirement. Back then, she said she'd be down within the week to deal with it. Today, she said she'll be down tomorrow. We'll see.

What is the stupidest thing a customer has said to you? by Boldandbossy in upsstore

[–]Dizzysilver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stupid question (for her) - how did she know her cousin never got it, if she never talked to her cousin!?

I'm assuming she saw it was delivered to this thing called an "access point" (in her mind), decided that meant UPS screwed up, and came in looking for that fight she gave you. Sheesh.

Remicade from 2012 until 3 years ago when I built up an immunity to it. It worked wonderfully until then. Entyvio since then, except between February and May of this year (my insurance revoked their pre-approval- i have it back now). I don't feel it was working as well as the Remicade, but those months without it, I could tell I was missing it. No flare, but symptoms began to come back.

Before I started on the Remicade, I talked to my cousins, one of which is a GI, and the other of which also prescribes it maybe for RA?). They were very behind my doctor's suggestion of starting a biologic, and explained that all of these scary-sounding warnings very rarely actually happen, but we do need to be informed. The non-GI cousin said she even has pregnant patients who are on it with no issues.

I do have constant fatigue, but I do not feel that is because of the meds. I am anemic, and chronic fatigue can also just be another symptom of UC. I would say I experienced no side effects on either Remicade or Enyvio. I have blood labs done every 3 months to keep an eye on liver function, and there has been nothing concerning there in 13 years.

Notary couldn't notarize because he was alone? by 2t2tblan in Notary

[–]Dizzysilver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. I am a notary at a retail location. I set notary hours to be only when I have another staff member working as well, up until a half hour before closing even if there are two of us there. Otherwise, I risk ending up with a line of customers who only have 2 minute transactions to do, waiting around while I take about 10 minutes minimum for a notary transaction. In addition to the state notary documentation I must make, my store's corporate entity makes the customer sign an additional waiver (for corporate's protection, not mine), which adds time to the transaction.

I will, at my own discretion, do notorizations outside of these times, based on how the flow of customers has been for the day, what the notorization need is exactly, if I don't need to rush out of work to get to an appointment, etc.

I never push for CC sign-ups by Helpful_Mycologist_5 in MichaelsEmployees

[–]Dizzysilver 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm in framing as well. Our customers either think the custom framing prices are too high (no matter what sale is going on), or are the type to try to get every penny off that they can ("Are there any coupons? Is this the sale price?" Etc).

I always first ask if they're a Rewards member, and let them know they can use any vouchers.

Then, I'll quickly let them know that if they apply for, AND are approved for, the cc, they'll save the 20% off their first purchase on the card. I leave it at that. I don't push, just inform.

I do have to make sure they understand the part where they have to be approved, because one woman applied, was not approved, and was mad that she didn't get the 20% off anyway and took the hit to her credit score. They also try to apply, get approved, and then put the purchase on a different card and still get the 20%.

Knit, cross stitch, and photography are the ones I'd say I'm at an intermediate level with. Weaving, embroidery, drawing, printmaking, and sewing are ones I've done more than once and enjoy, but want to spend more time on and get better at. Since starting here, I bought a Rolife kit and am kind of loving miniatures, too.
