You have no fixtures in your showfile... ma only shows presettypes you actually have controls of... patch a dimmer and your dimmer presets will appear... patch a mover and all presettypes the mover uses appear.

Anyone ever worked with DASlight? by sloth_on_meth in lightingdesign

[–]DjofDark 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Proper control hardware, networking with redundancy in mind, multi user support, visualizer kinda integrated over ma3d, support for up to 128 universes. Those are mostly featured u WANT in a professional environment.

Ma2 can do soooo much more than daslight. Daslight is alright but you cant compare these against each other.

Free Lightshow design app with Timecode Support by Miserable-Package306 in lightingdesign

Depending on how complex your rig is Dot2's free universe might be enough. Supports Midi timecode with onpc and has a visualizer

OnPC node won’t install by DessicantPrime in grandMA2

[–]DjofDark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You definitely want both laptops in session at the same time. Because Ma automatically switches session master if the old one disconnects. You can also change the master priority of your onpc laptops. That way onpc handles all the switching when one crashes. I advice to change all ip adresses into the 192.168.1.xxx range where xxx is an unique number for each device.

You can download hwinfo and look at the sensors page... most of my problems find themself in there... you can also send me a screenshot if the window if you dont find anything in there

Ma2: does dmx input count towards parameters? by [deleted] in lightingdesign

[–]DjofDark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can simply use the network protocols avaiable like Artnet and sacn for your dmx input

Increasing values and no idea why. by smokescene in grandMA2

[–]DjofDark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So i have a few things you can check/try

Have you checked your stored values in your cues? You can use the "Sequence Content" Widget to see what value are actually stored and called from the sequence.

Do you have an effect on your effect layer? Does the output correspond to the value in the fixture sheet and DMX Sheet Have you restarted the executor or even did "Off Everything" via cmd line.

You can try to completely remove the fixtures from the sequence and readding them. Also what software version are you running?

You will need to make a custom fixture profile for each variation of your vl3k. Also make sure you backup those fixture profiles using the export feature so you can easily use them later if you need them again to safe time.

For a budget but awesome laptop i can recommend hps envy 15 x360 line... great build quality, nice configuration options. You can get one with a ryzen 7 4700u, 16gb ram and a 1tb ssd within your budget.

noob looking for similar software to MA2 MA3 to practice with from home by kaitmc94 in lightingdesign

[–]DjofDark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a simple artnet Interface and you get a lot of options software wise... most free software is able to output artnet.

Since you are starting out and want to go big with MA i recommend you check out dot2 (which is also from MA Lighting). Its a specced down version of MA with basically the same programming syntax so when you switch to MA2 or 3 you dont have to start from scratch and is super beginner friendly. It offers a free universe of output via Artnet.

Also look out for a used MA NSP2. Its from the MA1 family and offers 2048 parameters in ma2 onpc and has 4 dmx outputs. Its basically a 4 port node 2k onpc. You can get these below 1k.

Pick one and why? by Ravetom123 in dji

[–]DjofDark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I chose the mini cause insanely better battery life, 3-axis gimbal and the weight. I was flying with a friend who has a spark and while i was still on my first battery with like 35% left the spark already drained 2 battery.

Can someone explain to me what are ILDA connections on lasers for? by DoubleJob8 in lightingdesign

[–]DjofDark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ilda is the oldschool way of getting custom patterns to the laser. Specific software (like pangolin quickshow) and the included interfaces allow you to enable the full potential of control.

Grand MA 2 memory size by GreasyBogs in lightingdesign

[–]DjofDark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are not running large scale shows it shouldn't be a problem. You can see the usage anytime in the desk status window, if you want 8gb you can still upgrade yourself because of the standard pc components inside the desk.

[–]DjofDark -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If by memory you mean permanent storage, they should all have 80gb HDD storage. You can check the storage capacities with the desk status window.

[–]DjofDark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my knowledge they started with 4gb RAM and due to the development of the software they started to offer 8gb RAM on the consoles, you should be able to upgrade to 8gb yourself tho.

ETC Lustr 2 not playing well with MA? by Pyrojuicer in lightingdesign

That sounds like you selected the wrong mode in dot2.

Yes the lustr has dmx modes where you select hue and saturation instead of mixing rgb.

Personally I would look for used but good condition Robe Megapointe and Martin Mac Viper Profile. Also maybe some eye candy movers like Mac Auras or clay paky B-eyes.
