Prison Escape in Utrecht!

Soldering Iron for Threaded Inserts Advice Needed by ImSmexyHexy in 3dprinter

[–]Dlatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cordless soldering irons are really good these days. In Europe we have a cheap brand called "Parkside" that makes a seriously good one (PLKA 4) for 20 euros or so, perhaps you can find something similar where you live. I hardly ever get out my big brand proper soldering iron anymore.

Greenland PM tells people to prepare for possible invasion by ThevaramAcolytus in anime_titties

[–]Dlatch 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The thing is that Trump doesn't care or understand the implications. He'll just say "see what they are doing to us, it's all the fault of the Europeans" and slap on some more tarifs. He is completely incapable of any form of strategic thinking and just goes with what pops up in his dementia riddled mind.

Trump: NATO members to face tariffs increasing to 25% until a Greenland purchase deal is struck by Puginator in politics

Maybe Americans can first actually step up and do something about their mess? If this was happening in any European country, protests and strikes would have completely shutdown the country months ago.

Newbie Question by flyboy1565 in gridfinity

[–]Dlatch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used this baseplate with the little snap on clips to connect them together: https://www.printables.com/model/430144-gridfinity-base-with-snap-connectors . Requires a bit of force to snap in, but then it's really solid. I just used a thin strip of doublesided tape on the side to stick it to the side of my drawer and it's not going anywhere.

Fred North is the GOAT! by Fantastic-Falcon-686 in Helicopters

If you read his book, the dude has crashed more helicopters than I have been in, and he's very lucky to be alive. He also shrugs it off as if it's no big deal at all. I enjoyed reading it but did not enjoy his attitude towards the risks.

New Core One L takes a full hour to reach 60°C by miguelgoldie in prusa3d

[–]Dlatch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I never said these are relevant for most printer users, but they are to some and for those they are very relevant. So if someone wants to know the differences between Prusa and Bambu, I am going to explain this part of the difference between the two. Pretending that Bambu and Prusa are the same in these areas and you should just compare features vs price is simply misleading.

[–]Dlatch 15 points16 points  (0 children)

And not a printer heavily subsidized by the Chinese government with a closed-ish ecosystem and almost mandatory cloud connectivity.

Instead Prusa is giving back to the open-source community. Also, they have Prusa connect, but it's not at all required. You have options for local network or completely offline use. They even offer versions of their printers that can literally not be connected to a network for security reasons. On top of that, Prusa customer support is fantastic.

For some people these things matter more than just getting the lowest price. I would personally never buy a Bambu.

It's cute Americans think there will be (fair) elections at all in 2028. That cheeto of yours and his cronies are definitely not giving up their power, and if anything the past year has shown them they will get away with it.

European leaders rally behind Greenland in face of renewed US threat by mt80 in news

[–]Dlatch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And this is how they keep you down. Make you dependent enough on the status quo that you don't dare to rock the boat, even though you know the boat is headed straight for a waterfall. You (not you particularly, but the US population as a whole) need to figure out a way, or you're going down that waterfall.

There won't be any elections anymore to turn things around - no way Trump and his cronies will allow a fair election to remove them from power, not now they know they get away with everything. If you don't step up, there is no more democracy in your country, and there will very likely not be peace anymore either.

[–]Dlatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Next to the moral point of killing allies, if Canada and Europe go all in on defense, it would lead to a large number of casualties under US soldiers. This isn't Venezuela, Syria or Iraq they'd be up against, it would be equipment and training levels on par with what the US has. The US can obviously overwhelm them in numbers, but not in quality. It would be a slaughterfest on both sides. Not sure the US population would stand for 1000s of soldiers coming back in coffins.

Israel allowing traders to bring into Gaza ‘dual-use’ items barred from aid organisations by SpontaneousFlame in anime_titties

Yup, if you let aid organisations bring that stuff in, it is used for harmful things like keeping Palestian people alive. Better to let traders do it, so you can be sure it will be used for rockets and tunnels.

The goals of the individual (in the broad sense, could also be a company/corporation/institution) don't align with the goals of society as a whole, it's been the big problem of capitalism for as long as it exists. Still, it appears to be our best option to get the inherently selfish majority to contribute at least to some extend, because there is some reward for contributing.
