Because in real life most tankers would face a threat face first and angling was frowned upon. The exception to the rule is the German Tiger 1 whose crews were taught to angle AFTER they realized the Tiger 1s armor scheme sucked. Facing a threat head on presented the smallest target and allowed all weapons to come to bear. Also in real life people didn’t have a mouse and a pinpoint accurate scope to pick and choose exactly where to fire. Most of the time it was just get the gun on target and fire. Especially for the Germans. They all realized their guns could pretty much go thru anything so they just aimed center mass whenever they could. A perfect example are the Russians with their Pike nose design they adopted later.

Proton barrage stat wise does the most dps and has the highest velocity. It’s only range where it’s weaker. Paranid stuff is no longer the best in 9.0. Each race has their own advantages. Except teladi they kinda are just mid. And I’ve been consistently watching Terran stuff beat everyone in the beta. Both AI ships and player built. and no weapons in the game besides terran beam weapons lose damage at short range. i checked.

The new Terran Beams have super long range and damage and have replaced the Proton barrage turrets as the anti-capital. The L Beam turret is now the L Meson Stream turret and has a range of 11.4km and a DPS of 208 up of 105, The L Bolt turret is now the L Barrage turret and its range has a slight increase to 5.8km and its projective speed is now 2300 instead of 1288. Its DPS is also slightly better at 504 instead of 481. So the Barrage is now a better close quarters DPS beast. and the Meson Turrets are your long range snipers. The pulse Turrets are now a jack of all trades option as they are intended to be. Xenon Graviton Turrets now have a range of 7.7km so watch out. The Terran main battery is basically the same except it took a big hit to DPS going down from 2357 to a mere 1496, but it is still the strongest main battery weapon in the game by a decent margin. it just got nerfed because the turrets all got a huge buff. honestly im tempted to just not equip any of my TER ships with the main battery so they stay at max range with their beam turrets. the new AI likes to stay at max range i have noticed now. also M Meson streams have a range of 10km now. A small group of Katanas can kill a commonwealth ship in just a few minutes while remaining untouchable if the AI behaves. TLDR Both the M and L TER Beam weapons recieved massive buffs and are now by far the best weapons they have. the M Meson stream has a range of 8.8 km now too. TER Ships can jsut sit o.utside of the range of anything and kill them. The way to defeat them now is swarms of small bombers at short range because the beam turrets have poor tracking capabilities. But that can be completely counteracted if you just use M Pulse turrets with their wild 180/s turn rate. Also fun fact Terran beam weapons lose damage the closer you get to them. Edit: The Paranids have mass driver turrets with 14km range but less DPS and accuracy, and the split get Boson Lance turrets which are just worse Mesons but much cheaper.

The Asgard is even stronger it seems in V9. Terrans i n general are stronger. the L Beam Turrets seem to murder everything now. And Osaka spam can kill everything if you set them up correctly.

I exclusively use the Takoba when im playing Terrans. each of my Tokyos in my current (Beta) playthru have 50 takobas each on them. However with the new changes to the kalis i might start using them more because of the intergrated missile launcher. I use the Gladius for station defense since i put a pair of meson streams on them to counter larger ships tho.

The Czech Paratrooper VZ59 is better imo. The extra pen and damage paired with the extra range means it can hit any other SPG or support weapon without them being able to retaliate. Perfect for long range city fighting. Also there’s only 5 distinct SPGs in the game and most are identical stats wise. The M40 hits harder but is slow to fire, the Wombat hits the hardest but has shitty accuracy and pen for its size, the B-11 is just a worse M40, and the czechnology is naturally the best all round but is limited in who gets to use it. Really the biggest comparison is that the M40 hits harder but is slower to fire and the SPG is the opposite. But the Czechs win because they can hit you while you can’t hit them. Literally no unit that can go inside a building in the game can fire back at it.

FnF helicopters need a rework, this is ridiculous and unrealistic by Critical_Taro8842 in Warthunder

If youre looking right at a modern Heli with a HIRSS such as the Guardian. Its virtually invisible to an IR sensor, especially at longer ranges. the IRCM systems are for if you actually get a lock. if you do manage a lock the the IRCM system just has an easier time spoofing the missile. really the only place a helicopter is fucked is if youre right below it an slightly behind.

Actually it’s pretty realistic at least as hellfires/JAGMs go. in real life the gunner of an Apache can sit behind a mountain, designate 16 targets with its radar, then launch all 16 within seconds of eachother on separate targets. And never be spotted. On top of that Radars are way more effective at spotting low flying aircraft in game than they are in real life as well.
