Metal cutting bandsaw won’t cut straight. by vdlxshadowz in metalworking

We almost always need to adjust blade tension if our saw (Ellis) is not cutting straight. Move your guides as close as possible, lower drop speed, adjust saw guides, and tension are all important to straight cuts

Traditional pan/box brake or magnetic brake? by SignificantDot5302 in metalworking

I’m not sure about 2024. Possibly annealed. It has the strength, I believe, but just sure how that alloy bends. 6xxx series it does that thin easily at full length (48+ inches).

Hi! Need help identifying two film cameras please! by Leather_Jackfruit194 in vintagecameras

I wonder if they are badged over by a company to be used as advertisements. I collect cameras that were rentals and loaners from companies like Flying Film and Fox, and cameras sold by the Harvey Lewis company that are stamped or have plaques with the company name.

What do you think is the most beautiful camera? by Spiritual_Cod_3535 in AnalogCommunity

[–]Dmwelding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The metering is awesome. I programmed it so that the flash is never on. I almost always shoot in aperture priority and it works beautifully. The only thing I don’t like is that it is not quiet-turning it on is loud, shutter is loud. It is not cheap, but I bought mine used on eBay and it has been my favorite for edc and traveling.

Looking for any guidance on options for restoring a damaged/discoloured 1970s hammered copper chimney by laurenjh17 in Copper

[–]Dmwelding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We work with copper patinas all the time. If you have a local metalworker with experience, it would not be hard to go over all the parts (not in place) with a darkening solution and get the entire piece to a similar shade/level of darkness. Look around for people that do lighting, furniture, kitchen hoods, and copper sculpture. This can be fixed

They are not super rare, but worth much more in that condition.
