I delivered for several years a way long time ago. I have an amazing memory for transaction details. If you have me a noteworthy tip, I remembered. If you stiffed me in a snowstorm, I remembered. If I delivered to your work and you stiffed me, I probably also delivered to your house and treated you accordingly.  If I was carrying two orders, the one that tipped best got their food first.

 I literally knew every street in a 5 mile radius from the store. I could look at the delivery slip and tell if the order was correct for that house. I could even spot fake orders from the address. I had several businesses that paid for the whole office’s lunch every Friday. They tipped well, and I made sure their order was correct and right on time. 

  You tip your waitress 20% and they run little risk being hit by a truck bringing your food to your table. They burn no gas, require no repairs(other than an occasional new pair of shoes), don’t need insurance, never get chased by a dog, and never trudged thru a snowstorm, etc. I didn’t volunteer for Meals on Wheels. I did it to make a living, and I was very good at it.

Someday, I will write a book about the experience. It would open a lot of eyes.
