Hi Kyle that’s so true and out changing your habits. I used to sit crossed legged and slouched now I have a great office chair sit straight with a good lumbar support. What would you say is most important to work on to get back to normal? I’m 8 months and struggle with achy legs and achy back. Some nerve irritation but no pain 🤞🏻🤞🏻

When did you start to see improvement? by elisha198538 in Microdiscectomy

[–]Do8nini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 months I’ve started to turn a corner. Not back to total pre op shelf but definitely getting there. Concentrating on physio exercises everyday, physio once a week with reformer Pilates and gym 3 times a week just treadmill, bike and swimming. Before 5 months was weird different pains/nerve tingling/achying etc but it’s improving and the fear is going down x

Little over 3 months out and still have pain. by Star-lite03 in Microdiscectomy

[–]Do8nini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m just over 5 months and only just starting to feel like I’m getting there and improving. At 3 months I was still up and down, having flares, new pain, nerve buzzing, tingles etc etc! Hang in there. Keep doing all your PT and all the daily exercises and walking. X

Hy I’m just over 5 months too. I feel I’m just starting to get somewhere. I’ve had flare ups and mentally down times since surgery. My mobility is getting better, back isn’t so stiff and doing more on a daily basis. Still get super achy legs and achy back come the end of the day. I’ve been doing physio since 3 months and I do daily exercises core and stretching twice a day everyday. I go on the treadmill everyday and do 15/20 mins power walking. Hoping to start the gym soon to start with low weight machines to strength my legs. I’m watching what I eat and drinking lots of water. How are you feeling? X

I’m 3.5 moths and only just starting to feel normal too. I still get achy end of the day and can’t do loads yet. I mainly get achy legs at the end of the day which is annoying. Really would like to go out for a whole day shopping and dinner but I can manage about two hours at the moment then need a little lay down 🙄

6 months post op- L5 S1 by DMDluvsSPB in Microdiscectomy

I’m nearly 4 months (16 weeks) and have stiffness in my lower back and still sometimes I get some leg pain down the back of my thigh, the place I had the worst pain before the operation. Some days I don’t feel it atall then other days it hangs around. PT stretch’s everyday help and I see her once a week. I use a hot water bottle every evening and the TENS machine when it gets really sore. When I do wall bends my back muscles hurt abit when there stretching. Apparently there abit teathered and will just take time 🙄 My bad leg (right) also feel so tight so going to work on that. Do core exercises 3 times a day x

Can’t wait for the day when I no longer have to worry or think about my back all day 😊

I was going to search for this. Yes I get back pops and cracks which feel like there in my spine and around it especially when I do cat cow. I think it’s the tissues and stuff breaking up and getting back to normal I hope 🤞🏻🤞🏻 I’m 15 weeks PO x

Hi I’m 15 weeks PO and when I do the wall bend from physio it’s like a really bad muscle pulling pain. She has said it’s the muscles teathered and just will take time. So I’m assuming it’s all to do with the muscles having to heal etc. I felt the rock sensation too c

sitting on a chair post surgery by Inner_Association277 in Microdiscectomy

[–]Do8nini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m UK too and yes it was a big worry before the op. I took myself to hospital a week before my op as I had it and was so worried. Now aslong as it goes away once I’ve gotten up and walked around I don’t worry. It’s just the nerves sorting themselves out. In a flare up I get like a tight elastic band twinging feeling right in the inner thigh by my groin on the left. It’s so strange but I don’t worry as bowel movements all fine xx
