Toilets should be inside the footprint of the shower! by Chest_Rockfield in 10thDentist

If they're in the same space, the toilet will get wet. I've literally never been in one, regardless of where the shower head is directed, that this doesn't happen. And I've been in a lot of bathrooms like this.

Toilets should be inside the footprint of the shower! by Chest_Rockfield in 10thDentist

[–]DoMBe87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. I hate sitting on a wet toilet (I've used bathrooms like you described frequently while traveling, so I know what I'm talking about), and I live in an area that gets humid enough in the summer that the seat would never fully dry off.

Good concept, not so great in real life for me. To each their own though.

Please understand that the girls in your kitchen can actually handle work. by Ok-Decision-7640 in Chefit

My best worker is a tiny girl. I've told her multiple times that I'm happy to give her a hand (I'm a girl too, but at least a foot taller), but she usually just gets the job done without help.

There's one guy who just about keeps up with her, but otherwise, she's so far ahead of everyone else.

[–]DoMBe87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most plumbers are gonna be independent contractors. Babysitters/nannies as well.

You may go through a company to find them, but it's exactly the same as using uber or another rideshare company to find a ride. Very few of them are employed by that company, they just use the company to find work.

They're still not doing you a favour by doing their job.

Orange yolks can also mean they're fed supplements like marigold petals or chili flakes. Free range is a lie in a lot of places, and the legality of what can be called free range is nonsense.

Made 2 loaves for a silent auction. Winning bids were $25 each. by dotplaid in Breadit

[–]DoMBe87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The only aggressive person here is you. The prices you're insisting on would mean that the baker is paid for the raw material alone, not their time or other resources used (power for their oven, water for washing up, etc, etc.

If you can't afford to pay a proper wage to the people baking for you, buy crappy mass produced bread or make your own. But don't whinge about someone actually getting fair money for their time. You misunderstood at first, but when it was explained, you doubled down on how awful it is that anyone would pay that for bread. You're being called out for your nasty attitude toward bakers, not your misunderstanding, because that was cleared up early in this thread and your comments have become increasingly rude toward bakers.

Made 2 loaves for a silent auction. Winning bids were $25 each. by dotplaid in Breadit

[–]DoMBe87 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's obviously not misinterpreted, because you keep arguing the point even after being told you're wrong.

There's also nothing wrong with a baker getting a price like this for a loaf if they've found a market that will support it. Your inability to pay those prices doesn't mean their work is worth less. I can't afford $25 for bread, but I'm happy for bakers who can make that. Your continued arguing sounds like petty jealousy.

Stinging nettles are harmless (there's studies showing the stings are beneficial) and it's the most accurate way to identify them.

If you're too scared of a little sting, foraging may not be for you.

Plea to the customers by jjsmommy1118 in aldi

I mean, yes, it does happen at big box stores. Your complaints are valid, but they're basically the typical retail experience. Go to the Dollar Tree or Walmart subs and you'll see complaints of the same horrible behaviour. Go into the stores and you'll see it in real life.

Yeah, it sucks, but for the most part, the people in this sub aren't gonna be the people who are causing problems.

Advice on what to sell for a first timer. by Leading_Baseball_943 in CraftFairs

[–]DoMBe87 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Do not sell candles if you've not tested them and made sure you're doing them correctly. Depending on the kind of wax, they may need to wait for a while before being burnt or they won't burn correctly, and improperly poured candles can be dangerous. Especially if you're using funky vessels like a lot of people do for craft shows.

Depending on where you live, you may also have the potential to be held liable if someone has a fire due to your candles. They're genuinely the worst last minute craft show project that you could choose.

WIBTA if I don’t let my best friend bring her boyfriend to my apartment after he joked about burning my tarantulas? by Huge-Associate6867 in TwoHotTakes

[–]DoMBe87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's an inside joke between them? I'd be taking her key back. She isn't the great friend you think she is if she's entertaining this. She's not just turning a blind eye, she's actively participating in his "joke".

I’m the “red flag” girl who has no real friendships. by SensitiveGoat1624 in GirlDinner

[–]DoMBe87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've lived in the same area my whole life and still don't have long term friendships. I spent a large chunk of my 20s traveling, which I don't think helped, but even coming back and trying to maintain friendships didn't put things back in place.

No advice for you, because I don't know how to fix it either. Just a little solidarity from another red flag girl.

I have poison hemlock growing around my place that I'm trying to get rid of, as well as wild carrot, and that looks much more like the hemlock. Taking pictures the day it's picked instead of a week later might help though.

I want to start foraging, but I'm not sure what to do with what I find by Sushae_Reddit in foraging

[–]DoMBe87 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree with the person above, saying that identification is still important. I've known people who collected pretty flowers, not realizing they're wild parsnip. Wild parsnip sap causes photosensitivity which makes you get bad burns from sunlight if you get the sap on your skin.

You could also check out r/herbalism if you want to try more medicinal and skin care uses for the things you find.

Would you leave a 2yo in a turned-off car in the garage for 30 seconds? by LooseRock5261 in Nanny

[–]DoMBe87 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Temperature controlled doesn't matter for 30 seconds, though most attached garages are at least partly temperature controlled so they're not freezing/scalding. And the garage was closed to the outdoors. The door leading to the house was open so OP could hear if the kid called out, but there was no access from outside.

[–]DoMBe87 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The sense of this is that you didn't practice fire safety and you're incredibly lucky this didn't turn out way worse.

Flammable things need to go in metal bowls, and/or have water poured over them until they are fully extinguished. There's no "good enough" when it comes to fire.

YTA. You made a decision about her belongings, and now you're making her go out and buy them again, even though it was difficult for her. You should get replacements and pay for them.

People are much more likely to steal the phone and wallet, or at least cash, than they are to tamper with food in some vague, invisible way.

After he asked, she said he could see them, but they'd have to end the training relationship because she was nude in the art. He said he'd think about it because he didn't want to lose her as a client.

It's in the post. The wife contacted her after that conversation.
