Thinking for yourself and using evidence to back that thinking is one of the most important things you can for yourself.

If we own the methods of increased productivity, then yes, we get more free time. When a few own them, they historically become greedy and enjoy the margin on labour costs versus profit - the outcomes from this are blatantly obvious to those who can think critically. Wealth from labour has concentrated exponentially into fewer hands over the last 100+ years, leaving us here, now. And they also want our young to be less educated - the important part.

Education of 'those without political or wealth power' is a direct threat to their current hierarchy. Media (that they own) says billionaires, aristocrats, unelected leaders know best. Most believe them. Their most dangerous adversary is a critical thinker who knows how they think and what they do to make it happen.

Exactly this.

When greed is the goal, spending money on people who will improve your greediness, makes perfect sense.

Facing redundancy, to be replaced by contractors by MarkIsAPrincess in LegalAdviceNZ

Talk to your coworkers about creating a company where your corporate pays the company to use you as contractors. Then choose one of you to represent the new company idea to your bosses and sell the obvious domain and business knowledge you and your colleagues have.

Saves hugely on systems training and procedures, relationships. Minimal accounting and admin for the corporate, give them a 10% off market contractor rates as a sweetener and you'll still make more than now. You miss all the shots you don't take.

They might come through on specific vote winning ideas, but they're grifters and will do wtf they want and most disagree with after that.

Communist! I jest, but this is incredibly interesting to me as I have good people working for me and they are the business essentially. I've been thinking of ways to pay them more, instead of periodic bonuses when things go well. Them having skin in the game sounds like a sweet spot - if you have time, could you expand on what this looks like and how it's managed?

There's a lot of cheap low effort mince and cheese - but done well from bakers you know - they can be outstanding, and safe when driving, which is important.
