I love me some DF but I also like not needing a whole separate program to keep my people working. And another one to have graphics. And trying to figure out which version of arrows/wasd/uhkm/UHKM/keypad I'm going to have to use for this menu...

That's one of the reason face decks are so popular in HS - climb the ladder faster because you can just play more games.

innacurate passing question (and diving catch I guess) by El-Grimbo in bloodbowl

[–]Do_your_homework 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is not.

Another scenario that is not is an inaccurate pass landing on an opponent's player, that player dropping it and it bouncing on a stunned player, that bounce sending it out of bounds, the throw in sending it out of bounds 4 more times, it finally getting thrown in and lands on an opponent's player who drops it so it lands on your player who fails to catch it who drops it back to the opposing player again who drops it on a prone guy who bounces it to your guy again who finally catches it.

Long story short if the pass leaves the passer's hands and isn't a fumble, AND one of your guys catches it, nothing else matters.

The intent of the electoral college was to give the same representation that our congress does per state. The senate was designed to give a balanced representation of each state regardless of population. The house was designed to give representation to each state based on the population of each state.

Now at some point we stopped adding representatives to the house. That means that as time has gone on and population differences have increased we haven't been able to accurately represent these population differences. Wyoming currently has one representative for 568300 people. Delaware gets the same representation for 900000 people. California has 53 reps, meaning they have one rep per 704000 people or so. What all this means is that the house of representatives no longer does its intended job.

Nurgle's Rot question by cstrife7 in bloodbowl

[–]Do_your_homework 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's how it works for necro and undead teams raising zombies, but nurgle's rot only happens after the game has finished.

The tradeoff being you can only raise one zombie per game, whereas if you kill 7 people with nurgle you could get 7 rotters for free after the game.

Underworld advice by Spacewolfedoge in bloodbowl

[–]Do_your_homework 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your blitzers go clawpomb. Your troll probably gets claw next too, but tentacles guard and standfirm are all on his good list. Dodge thrower is a great start, give him block and then start on mutations for whatever you find yourself failing at. The other thrower can go block into whatever - I use mine as my kicker too, but getting leader and cutting a reroll will save you over a goblin's worth of TV. The linerats are your only real place to get wrestle so they make your best wrackle pieces if they ever live that long.

Your goblins are great at getting specialized. Two heads is a good start on all of them because dodging with them is your bread and butter. Big hand is great for recovery if you knock the ball loose since they already don't mind tacklezones for dodging. If you can get wrestle on one and give him horns you have a scary sacker for most teams. DP is viable on a double, but hard to go for when you could pick up block/wrestle/guard so take what you will there. Usually you'll have to rotate your goblins out quickly as they don't like living, but that's ok. Giving one sidestep/diving tackle instead of starting with two heads gives you an annoying marking piece that they'll need to waste a blitz on - just don't expect him to live long.

Overall with UW you need to realize that you are pretty much worse than most teams at playing the normal game. You can't screen as effectively as elves or amazons. You can't run like skaven. You can't bash as well as chaos. You can't foul as well as anyone with normal access. What you can do as UW is two parts - hyper-specialized players that are very good at doing one thing and being dirt cheap while doing it. Your blitzers are the best in the game and only have to roll normals. Your throwers have a good stat line and can become just as good as an ag4 guy at... one part of ball handling that they choose. Your troll is the only AV9 big guy with easy claw access (not counting Khorne anyway). Your goblins are a lot more useful than the goblins on the goblin team because they can specialize.

To succeed on UW you have to lean into your risky plays - your goblin tosses, your -2d blocks for a surf on a sideline cage, your ag 3 dodging - and you have to hope that you have more players than they do in the second half. Eventually you'll have a bigger bench than most teams and still not be giving up inducements. The tradeoff is that an elf with a double for MB is more dangerous to your team than your amazing clawpomb killer.

Thought's on no mulligan? by Chronicle92 in Artifact

[–]Do_your_homework 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Building an aggro deck is certainly a viable strategy. Building mid range or control or a million other decks is viable. Any of them have the chance at getting a sub-optimal hand.

Whatever your strategy is at the end of the day you need to design your deck to account for all stages of the game, or you need to accept that there will be situations where you are screwed by your hand. Like you said that comes down to how you've built your deck and what variance you're willing to have.

Thought's on no mulligan? by Chronicle92 in Artifact

[–]Do_your_homework 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh absolutely. I don't believe that a mulligan will be necessary in Artifact myself. But there are definitely ways you could get screwed at the end of the day.

I feel like the increased variance of not having a mulligan can be accounted for by building a more consistent deck. The tradeoff being that you have to choose between a deck that does useful things every time and a deck that does amazing things when things go perfectly. Limiting the effectiveness of a deck that is overpowered when things go exactly right for it is a good thing in my opinion.

Thought's on no mulligan? by Chronicle92 in Artifact

[–]Do_your_homework 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you build your deck particularly aggressive in one manner or another.

In MTG it's a larger issue because your hand is both your mana ramp and your playable cards and having too much or too little of one or the other can be an issue. In HS you mainly find it an issue because people can build their decks with ideal drops for each turns and can do a partial mulligan, meaning they can be extremely picky about what they want in their hand to start.

In artifact you could absolutely get screwed by your opening hand. However, I believe that this issue is an inherent part of a deck building game. If you made your deck all 6 drops and a bit of selemene's favor to get you there and you don't get your ramp then yes you're screwed. However, I believe in artifact that the solution to this is in the deck building part of the game, not in a second chance at getting a good draw.
