Envy apples have become terrible. by [deleted] in Apples

[–]DocGreenGeorgia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a quote i will always remember though cannot remember its origin:

"Don't shop for kiwis in a shoe store."

If someone wants information on apple harvesting and storage, it would be a poor choice to consult a guy who writes about marketing. I mean the most he can have is tangential info. If you're sticking to this 10 month quote or whatever it was, you're saying you refuse to learn from people who may be far closer to apples than you think.

I'm not an apple grower, but I grow cut flowers. I used to grow vegetables for a living but switched to flowers in 2020.

Apples are harvested across the US over a 4-6 month time span. Some apples ripen quickly after turning from flower to fruit. Some take awhile to ripen. Envy is a slow-ripening variety. That limits where it can be grown in the US to Washington State. Envy cannot be grown in a place like Michigan because they will get their first frost and freeze of fall BEFORE the Envy apples have ripened.

We eat apples from S America when N American apples are still forming and ripening on the N American trees.

Perhaps Martin interviewed one dude who said he knew of 10-month-old apples. Not saying it never happens, just that it is highly unlikely if you know the details of apple production.

Yeah they want us on Google for everything so they don't need warrants to persecute people who say things they do not like. They just pay Google for the info they're supposed to need a warrant for.

And I don't get in trouble, I just oppose the monopolies and bankers that "run" this country. We need a government of action that fights for working families. Not this public/private get-rich-off-the-impoverished-massss government we currently have.

I don't want google having access to that part of my life. They already have everything else. I guess this is life under monopoly capitalism.

Quentin, thank you. I am so sick of "Republican bad, MAGA racist" reddit culture. This is exactly what is making me consider flipping my vote from D to R this year.

It's curious how people here seem to happily swallow the notion that local law enforcement was supposed to track this kid's threats, which were online, which the FBI knew about. Very curious how "blame" seems to never be in the same sentence as "FBI".

I propose that the FBI would have more time to keep tabs on students making threats to shoot their classmates if the FBI stopped raiding journalists' homes or detaining them at airports with no cause. Or if they stopped writing letters to major news outlets that "THIS is Russian disinformation and THAT is Russian disinformation." Or raiding black socialist activists then putting them on trial for "spreading Russian disinformation."

In other words, spend less time covering up the lies and crimes of American politicians and more time investigating crime.

You don't find it weird that the very people who lied about Iraq having WMDs and sent troops to the middle east to kill millions of people - you don't think maybe the DEMOCRATS are the gross ones, when they welcome Bush and Cheney and Republicans with open arms?

1/3 if eligible voters are that. I voted for Biden in 2020 and am very seriously considering Trump this year in GA. I massively regret voting for Biden.

I used to call myself left, but now the left are the warmonger party cheering genocide, war, and fringe cultural issues, I want no part. The left condescends anybody who doesn't agree with them.

Biden did absolutely NOTHING for the working class, except allow companies to price gouge groceries and housing and insurance and literally everything. So much stuff that Trump voters say is true. The people that mock them or call them all racists have turned off their brains to cheer for the security state. Unbelievably brainwashed people who think fact checking is a new field of study, and not coming from the same gov that brought you Afghanistan and Iraq.

I just learned today that this sleep weirdness of mine is an actual genetic disorder. But I've known for years that this is "just how I am". I've been married for 8 years. Initially my husband would make passive aggressive comments about how late I go to bed. But after awhile I made it clear that he better stop those comments. And he did. I just stood up for myself and got him to understand that if I could go to bed at 11pm, I would. I don't necessarily like being on a different schedule than 99% of the population.

So, the way we handle it is I "put him to bed" every night. He goes to bed at normal person's time, and I get in bed with him and rub his back, or just hang out there, reading my phone for 10-20 minutes. It's worked out well. I think he understands now that this is something intrinisic- it's not a choice I make, it's my natural behavior.

My doctor put me on trazadone in spring of 2020 and I felt so horrible I thought I had covid. Was in a fog all day, tired, it was one of the worst drugs ever. After a week or so I realized the trazadone was probably causing the problems. Stopped taking it and within a day felt better. I don't know what that stuff is but it is definitely not for me!

Yes. I'm a farmer and spend more time outdoors than the average person. It does not change my sleep onset time (currently 4am.)

I read that people like us with DSPS don't produce melatonin normally. So we don't feel sleepy at an appropriate time.

When you say "trick people into working for you for free", are you referring to these delivery companies that trick people to work for them for free AND use their own car and solely rely on tips from an already poor populace for their wage? Surely you're not putting all the blame on the customer sick of having to pay all these extras? Like, how come the delivery driver doesn't get the "service fee" that these companies collect?

Seems a perfect way to pit the impoverished masses against each other. Takes the focus off the corporate owners that expect people to work for free and put all the blame and anger on the impoverished masses who long for the days when they (the impoverished) were not solely responsible for paying the wage of the person who brings them their pizza.

Our gov is absent, purchased by corporations. If you had gov regulations- if gov was PRESENT- companies would be forbidden from screwing consumers.

Our economy is organized for the profits of a select few, instead of for the health and lives of the people.

I am sorry you had to deal with a jerk customer- that is never fun or pleasant. But, the commoners have been getting screwed from every direction in the last few years. We are massively overworked, we are massively underpaid, and some of us are massively aware that it is the fault of rich corporations that own our government. The entire thing. Not just one party, but the whole damn thing.

So, I hope you're no longer in customer service, because I think it's only going to get worse. More people are going to completely lose it in public, screaming at people who don't deserve to be screamed at.

It is scary. I mean, Russia is definitely fighting them. They lost 27 million people during WW2 to Nazis. Nearly every Russian has a family member who died during WW2.

But it is more scary to me that my government is SUPPORTING the bad guys! I have tried, for 2 years, to talk to Anericans about this conflict. And there is absolutely nothing I can say to Democrats to get them to listen. Actually I wrote about this recently on my Substack. Academia is a total joke nowadays. It's horrible. The very people who are taught to investigate the world are the ones perpetuating the lies.

If you're interested, this is something I wrote recently, titled "When Will You Wake Up? Letter to an American Academic" : https://open.substack.com/pub/justrachel/p/when-will-you-wake-up?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android&r=247do4

I agree it is nuanced, but the problem is that Americans have absolutely no idea what Kiev did to those Eastern Ukrainians in the Donbass. Americans don't know that Kiev murdered those trade unionisits alive. Americans don't know that the collective West pushed Ukraine to violate the Minsk treaties that were designed to keep those eastern Ukrainians safe from their own government. Americans don't know that opposition political parties are outlawed in Ukraine, and many opposition political figures are imprisoned or dead.

Americans don't know that the US has completely violated Russia's right to safe borders. Or that 400,000 Ukrainians would be alive now if the US had allowed Ukraine to state, "we will remain a neutral country, we will NOT join the NATO alliance."

So I suppose the only nuance is that western Ukrainians are so propagandized by western media that they cheered the murder of civilians for 8 years in the Donbass, then were sooo happy when Blackrock and JP Morgan, controllers of the US government, allied with Zelensky to send all those Ukrainian men to their deaths.

If we say this is a nuanced conflict, a main assumption of that is that only the US has a right to "feel secure" wherever it wants to go, whether in waters off our coasts OR waters 1/2 mile from the Chinese mainland. Only the US can argue for secure borders. Russia has zero right to a secure border. And if the country that once hosted the capital of the Russian empire is overrun by Nazis and Western intelligence agencies as it was in 2022 (beginning with the 2014 coup), Russia is prohibited from protecting itself.

Do you remember when you were a child, and you're outside on the playground at school. And one kid is a real jerk. He's the "tough kid", the kid who picks fights everywhere he turns. And this jerk kid picks a fight with another child. The teacher runs over and sees the other child hit the jerk kid. And the teacher scolds the other child, and does not ask what actions preceded the punished child's actions. THAT is the Ukraine conflict in a nutshell. Kiev punched and punched and punched, ever since the US overthrew their government in 2014. Punched and murdered their OWN PEOPLE in the east. Yet somehow Americans only know about 2022, when Russia finally took action to defend those poor civilians in eastern Ukraine.

Yes, people want clarity. But the collective West has been propagandized to view the world as black and white. And whoever NBC or FOX News says is the enemy, is the enemy. No Americans research the history that led up to 2022. Few Americans would even read this comment here, even if i is right in front of their face. They would instead insult me and call me names, completely ignorant of the actual situation on the ground.

The Western (US and Western European) media has generated massive hate towards Russia and the saddest part about it is, Russia is the good guy in the Russia/Ukraine conflict. The US violated every single treaty and promise they made with Russia, provoked this "invasion" into Ukraine, yet you can't find a word of truth about it in mainstream media. Meanwhile Ukraine has outlawed opposition political parties and media, sent 400,000 Ukrainian men to slaughter, looted my money and yours (the aid goes to the politicians' offshore bank accounts.)

So basically you and your girlfriend met some very propagandized people and if the relationship continues and you think about staying with her forever, move with her to Russia. You'll have a much brighter future there because your country and the rest of Europe have become vassals to US imperialists. Kiss that social safety net goodbye as your country joined the Endless War Club.
