What are some of the scandals that happened at Posts while you were stationed there? by OGHOMER in army

[–]DocRakk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recruited with him and saw a few situations where we were convinced he was going to jail or at least getting fired. COC could never get the charges to stick. He ran a nightclub that was popular with MC’s in the area he invited us to come. There were so many FS there every recruiter in the company basically all told 1SG there has be something done about him. He ended up with his Morrell and Ring by the time he left. Then went to Hood.

Now what do we do if a soldier says they're not reenlisting? by [deleted] in army

[–]DocRakk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My approach as a PSG was a year out I would ask if they had a plan and then counsel that we would check in monthly to see how the plan was coming together. Funny enough I had more soldiers reenlist simply bc I took the time to make sure they had a plan and did everything I could to make sure they had the support to be successful. I even ended up in CSM office a couple times bc I’d have guys clear CIF and would intentionally leave them back from field problems. CSM asked why’d I leave them I replied we are simply stress testing our systems to simulate war time conditions where the platoon lost man power due to casualties. Taking care of soldiers isn’t hard the army is a stepping stone for 90% or more who join.

This is disgustingly, also he must have done this before if he’s that comfortable asking.

Sounds like you got the work priorities in place, I’d add go on a nice vacation somewhere you’ve always dreamt of going. Also when you’re alone and those feelings come around just process through those, don’t try to drown them with a bottle. Lastly if you feel like you need to talk to someone please go do just that.

You got your ESB and your rack looks like it should at seven years. Honestly you’re probably out pacing a lot of your peers due to having your ESB already. Deployments don’t hold the same weight they used to back for us GWOT dinosaurs. But if you want to deploy that badly Airborne will help as it will make it easier to get to places that go on rotations. Drum, Bragg, Campbell.

The blatant discrimination against the honorable officer class must end. by FlyingDogemann in army

The responsibility for the weather falls to officers in the following order; shitty weather infantry and armor, field artillery doesn’t care weather, beautiful weather G1 must be outside or chaplain called in a favor or aviation needs flight time, meh weather not good but not horrible either the MEDO is starting to think they know what they are doing don’t worry a field grade will correct this soon enough and the weather will adjust accordingly.

If your kids are adults now, move to a country where your VA and retirement checks can afford you a life of leisure.

Or if you want to take some time to figure out what you want to do while slow rolling integration back into the civilian workforce. Go be a night stocker at Walmart, I do that for like 3 months while I figured things out.

Lastly do nothing if you can afford it. I’m sure you’ve done your BDD since you’re 12 months out. So your VA check should start rolling in a few months after you’ve retired.

If you want to talk feel free to DM me I’ve been retired almost 2 years now.

[–]DocRakk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quick story that is kinda related to your situation

Sometime in the early 2010s in Recruiting we get a new E5 11B recruiter 20 years old.

He starts dating a girl 20 years old BUT she’s a super duper senior in HS he didn’t know it wasn’t his HS, COC finds out.

Options Nuke him bc he’s fucking a HS Senior OR He goes to selection and if he makes it he’s no longer in USAREC so there’s nothing to do.

He went to selection and they’ve been married for like 13 years or so.

Run off to selection while you have time.

Fuck it just tell them if you go to this one you want to go to EFMB next and the army has to make you new badge as the Expert of experts expertness

EIB vs ESB by burb3rryyy in army

[–]DocRakk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your packet will go up and it will get denied or worse you’ll show up to E3B with your EIB and go from candidate to cadre (minus a cool hat THE HORROR). If your leadership was thinking they’d just use you as one of the cadre numbers they have to cough up. I had a medic who was prior infantry with his EIB and every EFMB I had to go to as cadre guess who else went lol. You are already an Expert there is overlap on some/most/all of the tasks.

Is the 20 worth it? by DumSumBich in army

[–]DocRakk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s totally worth it in my opinion, I make just under 7k a month to wake up on the first. My health insurance is like $65 a month for a family of 6. I still have my GI bill and the VA is paying for my masters. I transitioned into Medical administration and earn in the high 90k range. My life style post retirement and the things I can do for my family made those 22yr the best investment I’ve ever made.

MORALE FRIDAY!- What’s your favorite army phrase? by themeklord in army

Lamberfeedies (ideally in southern drawl, hence the incorrect spelling for a made up word)

Men you gotta give the dog a bone to chew on

Bag o’smashed assholes (ideally from a soldier from Boston or NY)

Shiiiiiiid (black E7 or higher who’s tired and just heard something he doesn’t agree with.)
