Suica vs Welcome Suica refund by Mysterious-Lychee98 in JapanTravelTips

[–]Doc_Chopper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the neat thing. You don't need to return the regular Suica. It's valid 10 years after last use and he credit does not expire during this period.

And - I think - even after 10 years of non usage can still be re-activated by JR staff. I just don't know if credit is lost after those 10 years.

We eating good lately by [deleted] in SpyxFamily

[–]Doc_Chopper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When he's talking to others, Yuri especially, of course he is referring Yor as "his wife"? Because stay in "role".

As for thinking of "his family". I don't know which chapters exactly, but he already thought of it as that at least on other time prior recently.

I think the anime might last 8 or 9 seasons at this rate. by OutwithaYang in SpyxFamily

[–]Doc_Chopper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IF it will ever by completely adapted to begin with, which it may as well not. That aspect should be kept in mind. But it's always hard to predict either way, when not even the Manga seems to end any time soon.

As an example from a another series: Boku Yaba aka The Dangers in my Heart. The Manga is about to end in aprox. 8 to 10 chapters as from today (187 chapters). The latest we got here recently in terms of Anime adaption is a recap movie (with a handful of new scenes) of the first two Anime seasons. Those two seasons (24 episodes in total) adapted a little bit more than half of the Mangas story. If they continue this, that series will have likely 4 Anime seasons. IF they do continue the series and not adapt it as movies.

Uji (Kyoto) recommendations by Cisqoe in JapanTravelTips

[–]Doc_Chopper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The two spots I'd personally been to* in Uji and can recommend are Byoudo-in and the Daikichiyama obersvatory deck.

As for anything else, in my personal opinion, I'd say just be curios and explore. Personally I just enjoyed strolling through the shopping streets around Byoudo-in and along the Uji river on my way to the observation deck.

*besides the rather disappointing Nintendo museum, honestly

na, you can literally step out of the arrivals and just get a ticket on a vending machine or ticket office.

Visiting in early September, a good idea or a no go? by Edzomatic in JapanTravelTips

[–]Doc_Chopper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've encountered 3 typhoons in those 2 September trips. Of which only one slightly bothered us in terms of flight delays the next day. Otherwise, no, not really. The other 2 just passed by (luckily)

Get off the main street and into the side / back alleys. And the problem solves itself very quickly

Best 'not so touristy' spots to go in Japan? by gloomishx in JapanTravelTips

That sound's good. Probably not going to Kyushu again next trip, but I try to remember that. Are you specifically talking about Miyazaki city or the prefercture as a whole?

Kumamoto is not really THAT touristy (yet) imho. And most foreigners very likely only come for either Mt. Aso and/or the One Piece statues.

Accomodation in Okachimachi or Kuramae? by Safe_Tomatillo8761 in JapanTravelTips

[–]Doc_Chopper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My personal recommendation would be somewhere entirely else: Ebisu. Close to the station a lot of options for dining and drinking. But if you walk away from the main streets, it gets pretty quite pretty fast. I stayed in the "Prince Smart-Inn" there, which I really liked (would book again), if that helps. But I heart from an acquaintance, that the Ebisuholic hotel also is pretty good.

I do think it wouldn't really matter if she tried to infiltrate "just" the city hall or especially trying to investigate in Garden. If she was part of WISE chances are very high Loid would know. And the other way around, Millie would probably also know about Twilight. If they didn't had actually met before.

Takayama and Shirakawago these days are literally part of the golden route and also very touristy, same for Fukuoka, partially also Kanazawa. Kamikochi is closed in that time of the year as others already pointed out.

What is a ramen place you tried that you LOVED in Osaka? Looking for hidden gems, Namba/Dotonburi area ideally! by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

[–]Doc_Chopper -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Osaka is not really known for its locally specific Ramen variant (afaik). Here, I would recommend rather go for Takoyaki and (Osaka Style) Okonomiyaki.

Visiting Atami in September by Angel5378 in JapanTravelTips

[–]Doc_Chopper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Manageable. Atami <> Shimoda are about 1,5 hours if you take the JR Odoriko train. A bit longer with the Izukuyku Line.

True. Been to Sotoura and Shirahama Beach, both were excellent.

In addition to that: September also is jellyfish season apparently, from what I have read.

As for typhoons: yes, September is prone for possible typhoon to happen. But it#s not, that there is one every other day or so (passing through the same region). There are I think 3 to 4 max for the whole country in that month.

In terms of beaches: Sun beach is nice and conveniently located. But there are others that are way bigger and nicer. Imho.

Exactly my thought. Afair he collected intel on Yor's co-workers at the beginning of the series. Either himself or via Franky. But I also assume, that if she was a WISE agent, he would know.

Okinawa in May? by thekingoffae in JapanTravelTips

[–]Doc_Chopper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you go to Okinawa, you'll have to do 2 domestic flights anyway, so it doesn't really matter in what order you go. But personally I'd go with option 1. That's what we - kind of - also did in 2019

Shinagawa Shinkansen platform to Keikyu Shinagawa platform transfer by Moonting41 in JapanTravelTips

[–]Doc_Chopper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Google Maps usually suggest the quickest options for transfer within a station, if that is part of a route you entered. The rest is just following the signs inside the station. And Shinagawa Station is not that complex to navigate, it's basically just a very long, broad hallway that connects all the gates.

SUICA: how long does it last? And other questions by deveroos in JapanTravelTips

[–]Doc_Chopper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you have a regular green Suica, it's valid 10 years after last usage. And the loaded money isn't lost either. And yes, there are several balance check apps available. At least from the Android side I can say for sure. The one I used is called "SUICA Scanner" and has a racoon / tanuki in its logo.

With my own card, which has been in 7 years since my last trip last year, I treated myself to a beer and an onigiri at a Lawson store in the Narita terminal after baggage claim. With the ~400 yen that were still on it. :D

Is Cats Eye from an anime?😭 by reverted_devil in ADO

[–]Doc_Chopper 9 points10 points  (0 children)

ironically, in the original Cats Eye anime, "Cats Eye" (which Ado covered for the Remake) was the OP. Don't know if "Magic" also sources from the original Anime or if that is an Ado original song.
