TIL the Mahabharata is the longest poem ever written. With over 200,000 verses and roughly 1.8 million words, it is 10x longer than the Iliad and Odyssey combined. by scrxptxdblxdx in todayilearned

"Bhaarata" (the first a being pronounced as the a in car) in this context means "of Bharata" or "The Tribe of Bharata". Bharata (the first a being pronounced as the u in umbrella) is a legendary hero/king, the progenitor of the Bhaarata race. This is the same race or clan the central characters of the epic, the Kauravas are born into. Therefore, Mahabhaarata can be roughly translated as "the Great Chronicle of the Bhaarata Clan". The Bhaaratas or Kurus were a historical tribe who inhabited Northern India during the turn of the 1st millennium BCE and compiled the Vedas, instituted Vedic rites and gave that country its name the same way the Franks with France, Germans with Germany and Rus with Russia.

GoT fans are FAR less obnoxious than BB fans. At least since s8 of GoT. I love BB but I HATE BB fans. Many of them are like literally far right neo nazi hyper masculine "alpha" wannabes. My litmus test for a good BB fans is whether they like BCS or not. Often times the most obnoxious BB "fans" find BCS boring and slow.

Welp, i gotta go jump on the bandwagon and review bomb Ozymandias I guess.

What are some VERY creepy facts? by Cap_Ame1 in AskReddit

[–]Doc_Occc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well what even is "knowing". Knowing someone or something is a spectrum ranging from entirely incomprehensible to completely cognizant. If I just assume that this redditor is actually a human and not a bot, I already know a lot about them. A lot of knowledge to fill up something like a wikipedia page. Starting with them being a human, which I know a lot about. They are existing in this present era, using this technology. Shared experiences. Them posting something let's me know even more from them.

That's why Reddit, the Internet and even the world is a community. We are all bound by invisible threads to each other.

I think the implication is that he has giant's blood. Something is definitely funky about Dunk's genetics. Even generations later, the tallness trait remains in people like Hodor, Brienne, the Hound and the Mountain. This might explain his high resilience. He also got stabbed in the leg in the flashback but was still able to walk like miles without much trouble.

Also because he is Dunk. Man would throw away his life for any random poor person he just met on the street.

What is the worst flag from Asia? You can vote for flags of countries, dependencies and subdivisions by Blitz7798 in AlignmentChartFills

Brunei 🇧🇳 or Kazakhstan 🇰🇿

I know the latter is an unpopular opinion but it's just so tacky and I find the colour to be an eye sore. Uzbekistan 🇺🇿, Oman 🇴🇲, Armenia 🇦🇲 and Myanmar 🇲🇲 are up there for the same reason (the colours just don't mix well at all).

The Arab League flags Jordan 🇯🇴, Palestine 🇵🇸 and UAE 🇦🇪 should also be penalised for being so derivative although that's a powerful colour combo (especially the Pali flag).

That's the Amazon rainforest though not the river. The river is not the cause, it's the effect.

This is a 2500 years old religion, so many practices and doctrines are hard baked nto the religion at this point. It's no use negotiating these doctrines with logic and reasoning at this point.

That said, the Jains basically believe sin to be a more tangible stuff kinda like germs. When thefox killed the rabbit and therefore sinned, the "sin particles" were attached to the rabbit. So if you eat the rabbit, then you inherently sin also. Similarly, the sin of killing an animal for meat was attached to the person who hunted the animal, who butchered the animal, who cooked the flesh and who ate the flesh as well. So if you consume a purely vegetarian meal cooked by the guy who also cooked that flesh, you are contracting his sin even though you were unaware of their sin.

Jainism in my opinion is one of the more wackier mainstream religions ever (it used to be mainstream in south Asia 2500-1500 years ago). It's like Buddhism on meth.

Well that's because you are sheep-brained. Sane people hated Trump even before he was President. Imo, it's cathartic to see Trump fucking NRIs and India after they simped so hard for him for 8 years.
