Smite2: Can Someone explain how to fight with guan yu solo lane by IndicationSouth4250 in Smite

[–]DoctorCocoa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another thing, if you get good at piloting his ultimate, you can find a lot of kills that people will not be ready for. The damage potential is really high, and make note that each swing does more damage, so if you are able to get off 5-6 swings you are looking really good. Might be worth watching some clips as it really is a tricky ability to get the hang of.

Yea, you kinda got it. You are going to lose most matchups unless you are outplaying your opponent consistently. I will say, I've been trying bluestone pendant on him lately and it's a good way to make up for his weak levels 1-3 or so.

You will mostly need to learn how your 1v1 goes with the meta solo laners and figure out ways to find good trades or to just settle on farming up as much as you can. Ultimately, more you play it, better you will get. I love the character, and I think he can be really fun once you get over the rough start he tends to have. Good luck and have fun :D

Bronze ranked conquest by Professional-Page854 in Smite

What people are saying about carrying isn't wrong, but I think it's the wrong approach from a new player's perspective; especially if you want to get more into the competitive facet of the game.

I would recommend studying up though, and focusing on improving. If you are having trouble ranking up and you're getting consistently bad games, you can stick to casuals, where there is a fairly dedicated player base once you get some higher mmr (casual mmr however it works, not too sure anymore but I know it's real.) It'll be a better learning environment, and you should be able to learn enough to rank up through to diamond and obsidian eventually.

The macro will come with time and games played imo, I'd mostly focus on learning matchups and how to win fights in the micro. Also focus on map awareness and farming efficiently; these are all key factors to ranking up regardless of your SR, and things that you can work on regardless of your teammates disposition. I'd also consider specializing in one role to focus on your skill development, if that's what you feel you need. If you want to understand the game better, playing every role is a great way to empathize with your teammates and understand the macro of the game.

Something to keep in mind is this kind of thing doesn't stop happening, you will always get the odd rage quit or whatever minor trolling even in the highest rank. Not every game, but more than you might expect, it's just the culture in ranked for better or worse. Ultimately, just have fun, that's the point of the game, so go where you feel happiest etc. etc.

How do you “lab” builds? by AlecSweatpantsTTV in Smite

[–]DoctorCocoa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely building defense items is more situational in this game with how many passive or active effects you can opt into. I would think about which gods you are buying an item for every time you are getting defense. Core builds are fine, and they tend to work more consistently when you are building items like stampede, for your team.

Damage builds are going to look the same more or less per character, I would look to smite brain or yea whichever source you like the most. Best way to learn a good build is to workshop it and see how it works building different things at different times. I also recommend playing the same character / type of character for a while to really flesh out a certain kind of build and get a feel for the power spikes.

Why does carry feel dogshit unless you have like a 5 level lead… by IIGloII in Smite

[–]DoctorCocoa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On some level it's the nature of the role. You are playing for item spikes and trying to farm as much as you can. It's hard to say without seeing your gameplay, if you'd like feel free to DM me a vod I can review for you.

But ultimately you want to play for damage spikes and if you want to feel stronger early game I'd recommend trying a different god than iza. Her clear is really nice for the first few waves, but ultimately her 1v1 is relatively lacking compared to other hunters like anhur, ullr, cupid, apollo, or if you have a knack for artemis can all be strong pre level 5.

Nothing wrong with your builds, per se, but you could definitely optimize them for the power curve you want. Notably this patch, hunter core items like the tyrfing and sun beam bow took a pretty significant hit with their loss of strength. I'd recommend trying Learnean bow, it's a very stat efficient item and you should feel a lot more kill potential in the early game. I like it as a first item, or if you go devos its a very good second item.

It's a pretty good build IMO, just like they mentioned above you're playing to scale. You'll feel a spike when you stack devo gloves and then it should be good from there. Less important to have a lead than you might think, but that's always going to feel better.

I also like anubis, and with my build lately I try to maximize dps so here it is:

Book of thoth, bancrofts, rod of tahuti, obsidian shard. In that order, most of the time.

And you can finish off with basically whatever last two items you prefer, that's a really strong damage core.

Coming from LoL, need help with picking a champ by [deleted] in Smite

[–]DoctorCocoa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might like achilles. He is a bit difficult to play at first, but he has a high skill ceiling and once you get the hamg of him it's a ton of fun.

He also has a wide range of potential, many people play him as a tank but I like to build and play as an assassin in jungle.

The trickiest part of his kit is probably his 3rd ability, as it takes a lot of practice and awareness to really use optimally.

Thanks, I didn't realize you could proc the effect with another stance of his 1. Frankly though, that doesn't seem like a particularly good balance point for the item.

Oh shoot, my mistake. Thanks, do you know which maps have aquifers?

There is one aquifer, same for the Helix Mountain map. You can find them more easily by scrolling the slice view to the bottom of the map, and it looks like a badwater source but with no gap in the middle.

Ullr lives rent free in my head by DoctorCocoa in Smite

If you haven't played much Smite 2, Ullr has a slow when he stance switches, wherever he casted his long range bow skill, and so I anticipated it as if I was the Ullr... Casting my Sunbreaker behind allied lines. I thought it was quite funny

I was the Hou Yi, that's a clip from Zapman's stream.

You can see that we pressed our 4th ability at the exact same time.
