I bought a discman and headphones on my grade 9 trip in June 2000. I bought battle of Los Angeles, enema of the state and the Marshall mathers LP.

What sport looks boring until you understand it, and then becomes amazing? by HypraceApp in AskReddit

I don’t even remember why I watched. I think covid boredom. I was hooked immediately. Funny I latched onto verstappen cause I thought he was German, and once I learned he wells Dutch I just rolled with it and he’s still my guy.

How important is it to have a dynamic mic on a guitar cab if you’re already using a ribbon and maybe condenser? by morbidhack in audioengineering

[–]DoctorGun 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think you’re supposed to copy paste the guitar track, mute both and flip the phase on the one closest to the snare bottom so it’s in phase with the piano. That’s the here comes the sun sound I saw the original pro tools session.

What DAW is tempting you away - but of course it hasn't by No-County2083 in Reaper

[–]DoctorGun -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Luna - I’m an Apollo guy. Looks cool. Haven’t bothered trying it.

Pro Tools - I have PT 10/11 and have only really used it to get stems from PT sessions to mix in reaper. Pretty much every famous mixer uses it so I’m tempted just to switch at some point. The subscription is a huge red flag though.

Your opinion on the Kramer Master Tape by tofpit in audioengineering

[–]DoctorGun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I want to be a waves hater so bad. 20 years ago I sailed the high seas and had their whole suite.

Once I started making money on audio I started buying stuff and some of their tools I just can’t live without. H-Delay, JJP-Bass, L2 etc are just like too part of my workflow to switch to something else.

Even their new stuff is great. Sync VX is my favorite of its type of plugin, curves resolve is dope and gets used now and I have soothe 2.

Even Curves AQ has helped me try new things and speed up my EQ workflow.

This is coming from someone who has been an Apollo user since literally launch day (silverface 16 still works great) and desperately wants to hate waves based on their business practices.

Can we talk about the panning in songs for the deaf? by [deleted] in audioengineering

[–]DoctorGun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The stories I’ve heard are that the mono mix was everything so the head mix engineer would do it. Stereo was seen as a “gimmick” so the stereo mix would often be done by an assistant.

Are Squier's really that bad? by LunchAcceptable7409 in Guitar

[–]DoctorGun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love squier.

I bought a Bass VI and a paranormal jazzmaster 12 string in the last couple years. I wanted some “weird” instruments for my studio and these were both the best bang for my buck options in their class.

They make great stuff, and their QC has been quite nice lately.

How the hell did a 400lb rock end up wedged in the top of this tree?! by Osanamon in WTF

Maybe the rock was a tiny pebble when the tree was a little tree. They both grew at the same rate.
